re: Looks like the Katy ISD Super Was a Bully After All

I have no feelings either way although I think it’s pretty shitty to go after a man in the public spotlight for the purpose of ruining him just because you got bullied as a kid.
I agree that the guy should have taken a different tact. But is he trying to ruin the super, or just shame him into awareness? Maybe it doesn't matter.
But again... the super could have just made this all go away. The fact he is acting this way, again, I keep saying it, it's just very strange and odd.

However, seeing someone fail due to their ego and pride is comical when it was so avoidable.
What makes this even more bizarre, is that pretty much everyone I know who works in Katy ISD (I know teachers, principals, central office employees, etc) all seem to, at least before this incident, really like the guy. If he came out and said, yeah I was a dumb kid, I'm sorry, 99.9 percent of the people in Katy would have said, ok, moving on.
This 35 year old incident would in no way impugn the good reputation he has built for himself since he took over as Super. He's very public, and generally considered to be a major upgrade over the last super, Frailey.
But after the way he has handled this, a lot of people are shocked and unsure of what to make of him. People in Katy DO NOT LIKE bad publicity, they like the image that all is well, remain calm, etc. If this guy can't get this figured out soon, they might not want him around any more.

Tell you what... have a couple of your friends kids, or maybe one of your kids friends, be bullied and commit suicide at a young age, and get back to me.
A kid who commits suicide over words is a kid who had shitty Parents
quote:no. It really isn't. You've just bought the bullshite
Are there some helicopter parents out there? Yes. Do some kids need to learn to toughen up? Yes.
This is well beyond all of those things

I can't wait for some woman to go before a government entity to let the 50-year old chairman have it for cheating with Janie Rottencrotch while he was dating the whining woman in the 10th grade.

There is so much ignorance in this thread it is amazing.
Bullying is very common but it’s far from normal. Belittling another person on a daily basis is the single biggest predictor of sociopathoc behavior as an adult. I don’t know of a single good adult who was a bully.
I have never encountered a “reformed” bully. This superintendent guy is a perfect example of that. He is still not humble enough to state in clear words that he is sorry. Why? Because he is not sorry. He is only upset that the secret is out.
Bullies only care about #1. They are not alphas. Alphas are group leaders. They improve everyone around them and achieve more together. Bullies are losers.
And the rec league basketball example is a sad example of men who still don’t have leadership abilities. Just give the bully and his parent one warning and then kick him out of the league. Let him sue you. Don’t even hire a lawyer. Just show up in court and be a kind person and say you were protecting another child. Let the court of public opinion rule on the bully and his bully lawyer.

Exactly how many current adults do you know that you can personally attest to whether or not they were a bully when they were 14?

Thousands.
I have been a practicing psychiatrist for 20 years. When people get in a room (1:1) they tend to be honest and open up. About themselves, their ugly past, and their faults.
Bullies are not healthy. They are the sickest people in society. Anyone who thinks "its just kids being kids" is likely one as well.
I have my own faults, as much as you do too. However, I am very glad that one of them was not being a bully or being bullied.

Wow. There are no words to describe how ignorant this is.
I truly hope nothing like this ever happens to your family or someone you care about.

Um. It's sad that I have to point the following out to someone who should know better but:
1. You are basing your info on your clients. Short of being forced to go see you, your clients are self selecting. Please tell me you understand this.
2. You didn't actually answer my question because you didn't know these clients when they were children in most cases.
3. Because of 1 & 2, you can't know how many people A)Used to be bullies, but straightened their shite out and never came to see you OR B)Never were bullies but now are complete assholes and have never come to see you.

You're basing this on those that came to see you. Yet, it hasn't occurred to you that quite obviously, a bully who is still mean and violent is far more likely to be on your sofa than a childhood bully who grew the frick out of it.
It's a good thing REAL doctors don't diagnose the population in this manner.

I'm sorry you experienced trauma in your life and can't bring yourself to accept that you or someone in your family failed.
A common human problem, but still a you problem.

Solid opinions based on people who have issues strong enough to be seeing therapy.
Surely you can see the absurdity of your reasoning, right?

That logic is like saying every male in the population is depressed since he sees a lot of depressed male patients.

So, he is being attacked for bullying 30-40 years ago?
That is stupid.
He's actually being bullied for stupid shite he did as a child.

We have a winner.
There's a social lynch mob trying to ruin the guy for not behaving exactly as THEY have determined he should have...........for shite that's almost 40 years old.
And, the lynch mob says it's "against bullying" because in 2018, bullying no longer requires you be near the people because those people can chase you around online.
The irony is hilarious.

Well the super has had several chances to flat deny it, and he has not.
He seriously might not remember whether it happened or not.
i don't remember shite from 7th grade and I saw plenty of really bad bullying first hand.

I know when I examine the problem of bullying and the fact that people frick with people online too.........my first thought regarding potential solutions is to frick with people for their 40 year old screw ups and to form online lynch mobs demanding they behave as we demand.
Yup. That's the cure!!!
