Because its been used wrong! Shelter in Place was originally for thing like a nuclear incident, active shooter etc.... But it has been hijacked like every other thing by the media.

It's like issuing a tornado warning because there could possibly be tornadoes in the area over the next couple days

Exactly

quote:

Shelter in place (also known as a Shelter In-Place Warning, SAME code SPW) is to seek safety within the building one already occupies, rather than to evacuate the area or seek a community emergency shelter. The American Red Cross says the warning is issued when "chemical, biological, or radiological contaminants may be released accidentally or intentionally into the environment" and residents should "select a small, interior room, with no or few windows, taking refuge there."[

Just tell anybody that may stop you that you're going to pick up some groceries in (insert name of state)

He should have said this along time ago. Shelter-in-place is not an accurate term for this situation. In a shelter in place for a hazardous chemical release, you go indoors and don’t come outside. For the San Francisco shelter in place, you can go to: grocery stores, banks, auto repair stores, pharmacies, health care providers, still order take out, and go to laundromats. I live in Lake Charles. Since the Mall voluntarily closed, about the only change for us will be closing Best Buy and Academy. Seriously.

I work in operations for a plant, and they were talking about a possible sequester yesterday. Yes, the money makes it very attractive. But, being away for weeks to leave my wife to fend for herself with the kids is the other side of the coin. They are talking hurricane pay (time and a half on shift, double time off shift). We figured out that it would be +/- $16,000 check for two weeks (after Uncle Sam taxes the frick out of us for all the OT).

I just saw some Sherman’s headed down HW90 to New Iberia. Looks like the national guard isn’t messing around. Was nice knowing y’all.

So if they close all restaurant drive thrus, everyone is going to have to come into contact with each other at the grocery store.

Don’t think drive thrus and take outs would be closed. They are not in Cali.
