There’s a significant difference between the “mom and pop” gas station employee and a buc-ee’s employee.

Probably has something to do with the pay.

I’m all for supporting mom and pops but most of them are run like crap.

So, Buc-ees is a "career" job? What? $15 per hour?

My wife is interested in leaving her current store manager position where she makes north of $20/hr to work at that Buc-ee's when the time comes. Their employee package is very healthy.

Why does Bucees trigger so many people? Literally the only bad thing that happens at them is traffic.

Okay, they are $2-3 per hour higher than a normal gas station/market.

Management is pretty in line with everyone else.

for a young kid out of college struggling to get their foot in the door of their field, i can think of a lot of worse places for them to work for a few years.

I saw where Chase Bank is also building a new warehouse for some of their mortgage files in Ruston. Chase has a huge operation in Monroe out by the airport. I think I read it will eventually employee 200 workers.

Good lord. None of that is even remotely true

How about some of you tell me what’s untrue instead of doing what 99% of posters here do and just making a blanket statement.

1) You can only get in ballpark during operating hours, I know because the gate was locked on a Sunday we tried to go there

2) Bucee’s is keeping the sales tax, the newspaper has said so

3) The fire story was told by multiple neighbors at a cookout. One of the wives who was there was the one on phone with 911

4) the roads are shite, granted that’s Louisiana

5 I feel confident he wouldn’t lie about trash now only being once a week. For someone not known to lie that sure would be a random one

Maybe he’s lying about staffing of city employees, small town feel, mom and pops shutting down, maybe there really aren’t chains popping up all over?

But explain how everything in my post last night is ALL a lie. I got about 4 posters and I want to hear from all 4 who said it was all a lie.

Was supposed to get one in Mebane, NC. Got cancelled by the city I believe after people in the area said they didn't want it.

I'm good either way.

Are you saying the average, surly, could give less than a crap gas station employee is only making $2 - $3 less than the cheery helpful Buc-ee's employees?

I'm not sure that is beleiveable.

Most regular gas station employees are under-qualifed to cook fries at McDonald's.

You're a fricking idiot.

Most real truck stops were independently owned. Fuel, Truck service, wash jobs, good food, and clean showers.

They have been replaced by large chain fuel stations with a fast food restaurant and covenience store attached. Pilot, Love's, TA, etc. The amenties are gone.

This happens when stupid fricking people (that would be you) get excited over a big chain gas station.

"Looky here, Ma. They sells sandwiches, coffee mugs, and t-shirts....duu huh."

Idiot.

This. I swear some of the Buccees badgers have never been in a gas station in La or Ms. 90% of them are total shite holes. On a good day you might find a restroom that doesn’t have graffiti, shite water on the floor, or a somewhat clean toilet.
And then of course the rude arse lazy cashiers is a given most of the time

Imagine being upset that someone laughs at stupid hicks excited about a gas station.

I guess having lived in places with more than 10,000 residents, I'm not excited by chain gas stations.

You would shite if they opened a Buc-ees and Speedway in the same month.
