Bone measurement analysis indicates that the remains found on a remote island in the South Pacific were likely those of legendary American pilot Amelia Earhart, according to a UT researcher.

Least she got to hang out at the beach

I'd have hit that. Island style.

So does that put to rest that ridiculous History Channel show that claimed she was a POW?

They are assuming it was her based on measuring some bones 80 years ago? Somebody else guesstimated her height from and old picture with a scalable object in it.
Skeptical.

I am too about dinosaurs. Obviously the bones would have changed over the course of eons.

It does, but thankfully their show about mermaids still hasn't been debunked.

Might be a stupid question but can't DNA be taken from old bones now?

They measured a bone to determine the identity of a person?

I think it said these particular bones disappeared years ago.

Ya, in your mother's arse.

Nah, usually OP will include the pertinent information.

The bones were lost. They don't exist.
The new "analysis" was based off measurements done 80 years ago. The guy wrote a paper using old data and new conclusions.

Yep, and not one mention of DNA...
Posted on 3/7/18 at 5:48 pm to Hangover Haven
Can it though? After 80 years I would think the dna would break down. And what would you compare it with?

You're glossing over the new technology aspect and this as well..

The data revealed that the bones have more similarity to Earhart than to 99 percent of individuals in a large reference sample.
