Get you some education or you will never break out of low base/high commission gigs.

to expound on this, camper sales were exploding during Covid.
My last year in the industry I did $140k in seven months.
Many times if a class A or class C motorhome was sold I or another salesman would GP $10k.
How are sales on RVs doing now? Id imagine it has plummeted.

I was in your exact shoes when Katrina hit. Drug up and finished automation tech school while taking odd jobs repairing Katrina damage. Pick a career field where you can make a comfortable wage and go for it. Don’t consume student loan debt.
For a specific path suggestion, if it were me and I was a young man, I’d get in the hip pocket of a master plumber and learn everything I could. Get your licenses and start printing money.

Honestly we got extremely spoiled during covid 2020/2021/2022. Car shortage, full sticker prices, making at least $1,000 on a new car for a solid year. With that being said inflation hit us last, and now we are having to fight for crumbs.
We feel terrible for you, really.

From what I gather, it’s plummeted, I got out in January 2023 due to unforeseen circumstances.

Healthcare is a reliable field. There will always be sick people.
I’m a radiologist, so I work with a lot of imaging technologists. Most of the ones who have been certified in CT and/or MRI seem to be pretty happy and make a decent living.

Since you’re already in the automotive business, how about being a mechanic. I would imagine learning how to work on electric cars would be in high demand shortly.

Industrial sales for a metal service center (aluminum, carbon steel, stainless); plastics or industrial gases.

How many cars do you have to sell a year to even make $75k a year? 50-60 cars?

Even if it’s the internet, you gotta be a pretty big dickhead to talk to someone like this

I left being a sales Mgr. If you can find an opening, go work at an car auction company. Dealer field rep. It's what I do now and work 20 hrs/wk. 80-100k

How much do you want to make a month?

While people struggled to find funding for vehicles to get back and forth to work, you gloated about your commission.
I’m not saying lead makes a good sandwich, but try it and let us know.

. A lot of b2b are going to require a degree even with a lot of sales experience and a proven record.
I'm currently hiring b2b salesmen. The last thing I would care about is a degree. Only thing I care about is: does he have the discipline to make his calls, follow up, be organized, be self motivated, etc.

Yes find a new career. You’re young and can do anything you want. The reasons listed sound like more than enough evidence.
As far as the new career, what do you like to do? Hobbies, interests?
*you don’t need a degree in 2023. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Experience means more than a diploma now.
**if you don’t get sober you’ll find problems with any job because “you” will be the common denominator. Remember… the substance isn’t the problem, it’s the solution to the problem. You are the problem.

Louisiana rad tech pay sucks. I was a radiology manager for a chain of surgical hospitals in east and central Texas and would poach the better performing Louisiana tech’s easily simply offering a few $/hr more + no income taxes.
MRI machines still cost a small fortune so they are not everywhere and competition for jobs running them is fierce.
Rad tech sucks as a career choice, too many schools (60-ish programs in LA alone) graduating too many people.

I disagree. I’m in sales and can say my degree has zero to do with me getting a job with my experience and references. Why the hell do they care that I got an Econ degree from UGA 18 years ago? They want results.
That being said, 4 years of car sales experience will likely not land you a good direct sales job. I’m not sure how old you are, but I would be looking for an inside sales job or business development role in a sector you are interested in. Make sure that company has a GOOD training program and provides for upward promotions (like moving to outbound or another role). Good luck to you
