One sculpture is clay and another sculpture is “original clay”. Apparently some products advertise as being made of “original clay” as well, and idk what it means. I’m presuming it has to do with where it’s gathered and the composition of the clay, but when I google clay I didn’t see a distinction between clay and original clay
The NY auction house I’m buying all my sculptures from are sketch on the details.
If I’m about to buy a sculpture for a few million, I’d like to know

If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.

Ask whomever is doing the selling. I think it means an original piece vs a mold maybe? And that it's made of clay.

Tree fiddy thousand, that is.

Original clay is easier to work with for amatures. It doesn't dry out and crack like regular ceramic clay and you can bake it in an oven rather than a kiln to harden it

Surely it's not made from the Sculpy shite from Michaels?

I wonder if it has to do with castings and reproductions? A clay sculpture could be a reproduction from a casting of the original, but an original clay sculpture would be the one the artist created.

It probably violates the rules here. Likely stuff Podesta would be interested in.
