Beaufort, SC. Big enough to have decent amenities like grocery stores and restaurants, but not too big. Hunting Island is a nature preserve right on the other side of St Helena Island and easily accessible by car. You’re 20-30 minutes from Hilton Head, so there is your golf.

What does this mean? Pretty much the entire gulf coast has multiple courses within a 1 hour drive.

This probably disqualifies most suggestions here, especially the ones north of the middle of Florida.

If mild seasonal weather is allowed, look at the east coast from the palm coast of Florida up to pawleys island in sc.

Diamondhead MS. You can have it all there. You can live right next door to the country club and play all the golf you want. You can go to the beach or go shopping if you want to. Prices aren't too bad either. They are going up though.

Here's a condo for 60K

I am headed to Jupiter Fl
. Not walking distance to the beach, but a short ride. Condo overlooks the golf course

I would recommend either Diamondhead, MS or Ocean Springs, MS.

OP, the wife and I did the look at a second home down in Fla about 10 years ago. We found that we felt that we were in a third world country down there. Things were just way to fast and we didn't speak spick. Same problem was south Texas besides very high taxes. Looked in Ga, SC and NC. More north, higher prices. Problem there, colder winters then here in Louisiana.

Fairhope. Not walkable to a beach but a sleepy little town on Mobile Bay.

Wife and I are starting to hunt for a place to retire. She prefers a location where she can walk to the beach
(not beachfront, too pricey), I need golf, and we both want year round warm weather. Preferably in an area not overly commercialized. Is there such a place? :-)
