You should have started this process months ago. Any reputable breeder has a back log especially on EBD's Not typically a first come first serve operation.
Id do your research before throwing some coin down just because your wife wants one or there is on available as these breeds have a history of health issues. Some greater than others.

I had an English and he was a hand full. Hard headed and not too bright. He stayed outside mostly. Never had a problem with any skin issues. Got ten years out of him before cancer got him. I miss that dog.
Good luck with your search.

We've rescued 2: One male and one female. Both were severe mental cases.

Currently have a 4 year old english from a breeder out of North Ms. Some skin allergies is all with the health. Overall a knucklehead that snores when he sleeps and the kids love. Previous dog was a 210# great dane so this is easy.

Damn dude, did a bulldog piss in your cheerios or something? Yea French/English bulldogs are potentially known to have multiple issues but they are some of the most loyal and entertaining dogs you will ever own. They are not a breed of dog you buy and forget about. They require some attention.
What breed of dog isnt outside of a mutt? I know multiple breeds that have just as many issues as a bulldog.
Mine knows several commands, rides a skateboard, and plays fetch.

Yours is an outlier, not the norm. Yeah I sound pissed because one of my biggest pet peeves is people getting dogs because they're cute but then have no idea how to raise and train them and you end up with spoiled little shite dogs that are useless. I have several in my extended family and I am bitter about it. It's a curse.

I had a bulldog who lived for 11 years. A few fairly minor medical issues. Smart as hell but equally hard headed. Absolutely fearless and loyal.

Next dog I will buy is a Dogo Argentino.

I hear a lot of bad shite about Bulldogs in general. High purchase price, medical issues, short life span, smells like shite. No thanks, I'll take a rescued dog for $35.

We had one that lived for 14.5 years.
Some allergy issues, bad hips (like all Bulldogs) but she was great.
We have a new one now:

That's a long life for any dog, but isn't 14.5 years old about twice the average life span? I know 2 people who had one an neither made it to 10 years old.

The average span is around 10.
The reason it's that low is due to owners who think Bulldogs should be fat. Our last was always around 40-45lbs.

Check with Big Easy Frenchies. I own a Frenchie from him, and have not had any problems. I find the breed to be the most loyal, playful and loving. I had GS as a kid as well as labs and just lost a Chesapeake Bay retriever before this test with an inside dog. I will have another one soon.

That's absolutely right. The average dog shouldn't weigh in excess of 55 pounds. Bitches around 45. The first rec out of my vet's mouth when we visited was usually "you need to trim a few pounds off him".

Hire a housekeeper at the same time. EBDs smell terrible & drool on everything.
