I’ve heard first offense you’re pretty much going to get the same rap either way. An attorney may help get you less community service or shorten your probation a couple of months, but really not worth the hassle. Suck it up and pay the price.

Also, ZERO excuse in 2025 to get a DUI. Should be an attempted murder charge. If you don’t give a shite about yourself, at least give a shite about others.

Probably easier to just hire a lawyer. Cheaper? No.

No cap. I’m not at all condoning drinking and driving, but if you’ve ever gotten behind the wheel after a night of drinking, the only thing separating you and him is luck.

Do not under any circumstance drink and drive.

Guys, find one broad, just one, that doesn’t drink and you can have a DD until you have kids.

Yet you live in a place that happily banned ride shares a few years ago before a revolt, knowing the result that DUIs would skyrocket. But, we need background checks for every driver to keep people safe, they screamed at the sky! They set up STING OPERATIONS in Austin to catch drivers picking people up where they shouldn't. Austin sucks dicks.

so, even though he was not under arrest and if he had been arrested, had a right to remain silent, he provided all the evidence to the police needed for the DA to convict him.

Everyone will jump down your throat, but to be fair...

I'd probably blow that after dinner and 2 glasses of wine which is not severely impaired compared to 10 beers and 4 shots of fireball hanging out in my next door neighbor's garage. Now that is impaired.

So true

I will admit i have driven impaired. Wasn't smart and I got lucky to not hurt myself or others. Just not worth it. But I am someone who also thinks you should be able to have the first beer in your way home from work.

Don’t need an attorney unless going to fight it. Speak with DA and see if they can get same common deal attorneys get for first time offenders.

Hiring a lawyer is not necessary in this situation.

Your friend is fine with bad decisions hurting other people. Apply that same standard for himself, save some money and appear pro se.
