If he's truly a man of his convictions and has coached for over 40 years, it was inevitable in today's world of over involved, sports obsessed parents that he would discipline the wrong kid with an influential parent that dropped the hammer on him.

I think there is something else going on...

Although there are a lot of snowflakes around, baseball players generally aren't snowflakes at all. They are generally the complete opposite. Even today.

Baseball players are the biggest meathead non-politically correct, nut grabbing tobacco spitting opposite of a snowflake people at a school.

So I don't think "snowflake participation trophy millennials" has anything to do with it.

Since it's not mentioned in the article, I wonder what the teams record has been over the last 3/5 years.. the only telling sign was a lack of energy from the players which is usually a word describing teams that are struggling

ETA; after looking at his teams record over the last decade and especially the last few years.. I'd say his middling record played some part in the admins conclusion that he wasn't reaching the kids..

Sounds like he didn't do a good job of adapting and evolving.

Free market baws...it's tied to social progress.

Ship up or ship out. Good riddance.

Millennials are out of college. High school kids aren't millennials.

Yes yes, let's blame millennials for a school firing an old arse coach on the downside of his career who was more likely let go so they could replace him with somebody far cheaper or b/c some pissed off parent wants their little baseball hero to be the starter.

it's much easier to believe what sounds like a cover story for something else ehh?

I certainly believe that he's reasonably reciting the conversations and the words by the admin.. sounds like they were to big a pusses to tell him his teams and his abilities weren't getting the job done.. the man is only telling what he was told or lack there of, given they only told him they weren't renewing his contract.

Team record should play very little into whether a high school coach retains a job. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. There are so many variables, especially in public school athletics .

I bet ol boys team was losing. You dont run off a coach for something trivial like that if he is winning.
