Anyone know how much that costs them?
50-100k depending on state, how long youve practiced and if youve been sued previously
One of the few good things about Louisiana is that there are laws that cut down on frivolous lawsuits and cap damages.
Thats why you dont really see lawyer commercials in LA for medical malpractice stuff, all car wrecks and work injuries

The silver lining is that the pretty, smart, and successful women are breeding at a greater rate than normies.

Google Dr. Christopher Duntsch
quote:
Even after this report, Duntsch was hired by University General Hospital in Dallas in the spring of 2013. Soon afterward, he severely maimed Jeff Glidewell after mistaking part of his neck muscle for a tumor, severing one of his vocal cords, cutting a hole in his esophagus, slicing an artery and leaving a surgical sponge embedded in his throat. Kirby was rushed in to repair the damage, and later described what he found after opening Glidewell back up as the work of a "crazed maniac." He later told Glidewell that it was clear Duntsch had tried to kill him. Glidewell was left with only one vocal cord and was partially paralyzed on his left side.
Oh lord

Oh it gets better.
Wait till you read about when he tried to dodge authorities
Dude was eventually caught shoplifting I think pants from a Walmart
From neurosurgeon to shoplifting at Walmart
Eta: it’s only because a couple of concerned physicians were very persistent that he finally was prosecuted and stripped of his medical license

Girl I went to med school with went into neurosurgery.
College plus med school plus residency plus fellowship 15 years.
She practiced for 1 year and quit to be a stay at home mom.
Being a stay at home mom is wonderful but if thats what you want why do you do the rest? Not to mention taking a spot from somebody who would practice and care for patients for 30 years.
She found a higher calling. She sounds like a top notch woman.

This is the dirty little statistical secret about t incoming doctor shortage. On average, female doctors work fewer years and fewer hours than male doctors. Because of this, there is eventually going to be a significant doctor shortage with the increase in female MD’s

Sounds pretty selfish.
She is trained to save lives.
But instead would rather just be a mom.
What a waste of intelligence

We're talking in this thread like it's a bad thing that a woman decided to stay home to raise their children.
I'll guarantee that society would be better if every family did this. You can SJW me if you want, but the individual family would be better, thus society would be better if the children got better attention by the right people (parents).

Unless you’re dating the man before med school, yeah you generally do.
More and more doctors are marrying other doctors.

There's a pretty high % of female MD holders who leave the field after a few years. I'm guessing that's probably true of other professional fields, too. We spend a lot of money (and deny a spot to others) just for them to up and quit.
Absolutely one of my most frustrating aspects of my job
1/3 of my current position is managing 13 other physicians and mid levels in six different clinics
Coping with those who go on maternity leave for three months every other year and those whom we train only to have them move to part time or quit to be stay at home moms is a giant headache
The part that bugs me is the extra work they impose on everyone else while they are gone jut think it is a “right”
I had one last year who took a new job with us knowing she was three months pregnant and then once hired went on maternity leave after six months and then didn’t come back so she wound up tying up a job for a year with barely six months of work

Being a mother isn’t the hardest job on the planet. No matter what some SAHM on fb posts.
A neurosurgeon though?
I would say that would be on the list.

Lots of folks are Dr.s because they are smart and good at school, not because they want to heal the world. They just put their head down and compete...and in her case win. Being a neurosurgeon is probably much less fulfilling than beating everyone in med school.
My dad’s best friend is a retired neurosurgeon and he’s basically crippled with arthritis. Those surgeries are LONG and very taxing...putting someone’s arm back on or the like.
She probably didn’t like it and had opportunity to quit so she did.

I don't think choosing to give up your profession for your family is selfish. I think suggesting that is crazy. It's even crazier when you consider this woman's professional potential.

Maybe her kid has an extreme condition of headcase and she is working on a treatment for that without having to go through all the medical hoopla research.
