I'm traveling to the Syracuse game next Thursday from Dallas. I'm flying into New Orleans with my wife at 9 am and am not flying out with the rest of our party until 7:30 that night. Since we have basically a whole day, we want to go have some fun in the quarter. Are there any other options beside cabbing it back and forth? $80 to get to and from the airport just seems less than ideal.

Cab is going to be your best bet unfortunately. But I'd gladly pay $80 to not spend 10 hours at MSY

Cab from MSY to the FQ is $33 flat. Uber may or may not be cheaper.

You could probably just rent a car for about $30 a day...but then you have to worry about parking downtown.

We're young and both just started our careers. In due time we will be.

Pox is right, it's $32 for the cheapest car for the day. Also isn't there free parking close to the quarter? I remember doing that a few times

No kidding. MSY is not a layover airport, nor should it ever be.

Look at the dumb shite they are trying to do at Laguardia or the mess they created at Reagan

Park at Harrah's. Place blackjack for 15 minutes, get free drinks and get parking validated

Perfect.

Yep. Rent a car, park at Harrah's, start your trip off to the quarter gambling there, go have fun, leave and go back to the airport. Hell, you may make a couple bucks at the casino.

It's not....it's about 50-60 bucks to Lakeview. So I'd guess 70 bucks for an Uber to downtown?

It's just limo companies masquerading as Uber. I've used them about 3-4 times within the past 2 months getting to Lakeview.

Book a car through travelocity or one of those kinda sites. We saved like $25 a day by renting this way.

Rent a car and enjoy a muffuletta or po-boy in the French Quarter. Just stay away from the hand grenades.
