You can't Uber from the airport. Any uber driver picking up fares at the airport should be reported.

I just flew in yesterday and the Uber app indicated there was a $75 base rate for a ride downtown. I googled it and saw this was a cost imposed by local government. The only options were Uber Black and Uber SUV.

So instead of Uber I took a shuttle for $20. I was told they always have one waiting. I did lose about 20 minutes as the driver had to drop off other riders, but his first drop-offs were in the Quarter.

Uber shows the rate back to the airport is $35.

If it were me, I'd rent a hotel room at the Airport Hilton and forget about trying to "do" the Quarter. You can probably negotiate a daytime rate if you call the hotel directly. Use their shuttle to and from the terminal, watch some TV, take a swim, take a nap, eat some lunch, have a few drinks. You'll have a place to meet up with your parental units and, as a bonus, if they're driving they can park their car at the Hilton for free while you're gone. Depending on how long you'll be gone, that alone can pay for the cost of the hotel room.

Park at Harrah's. Place blackjack for 15 minutes, get free drinks and get parking validated

I used to hate having to do that lol. I would always wait until the day I'm leaving when I'm hungover as hell to get my parking validated. Playing cards for 15 minutes when all you want to do is go home is a miserable experience.

How does that work? You just go park as you would a normal public parking lot and they don't boot you or anything? And in order to get out you get some kind of stub for playing at least 15 mins?

Nah it's garage parking. Upon entrace into the garage you get a time stamped parking receipt. Hold on to this receipt to get it validated.
