This is becoming the norm. People do insure themselves properly then beg to be bailed out when something goes bad. You saw a ton of it during the flood and in this case as well.
To me the flood was way different than this. If you did not live in a flood plain and had never been close to remotely flooding before it is very likely many in that scenario would not have flood insurance. However, if your business is a mobile trailer, not having full insurance on that and wanting a bail out is absurd. Apple and oranges.

Honestly seems like a better deal than getting stock in this company for my donation. These people seem like a liability nightmare

Give me money so you can give me money.
How about they do a kick starter and promise people coffee once they get back open.

Now we have nothing but a burned truck and trailer.
Go Fund Me started out with noble causes, but now its become a way for people to be irresponsible and go without insurance, then run to Go Fund Me and share all over social media to get sympathy and be bailed out of the decision to skip insurance.
And the GFM has a goal of $100k? Are they serious? I don't see how replacing a generator, trailer, and equipment inside is going to cost anywhere close to $100k.

Because then they'd have to raise funds again for the free coffee that they'd give out. Would be an endless cycle

Takes money to run a business, unfortunate for them this happened, but if they had had proper insurance they wouldn't need this money, they gambled and cut a corner and lost.

im 99% sure that the larger part of that 100k is to pay their own bills while they rebuild
they dont want to have to cancel netflix, downgrade their iphones, and stop eating at hole in the wall bagel places to save money on their lifestyle

I've seen them at the storage unit they keep the truck at, they drive an escalade up there to get the trailer. This is not their only source of income.

I really don't wish ill will to these people. I hope that they end up being ok financially and live long and happy lives. Honestly.
That being said, they need to go work for someone else and give up on their dream. A very simple step in opening a business was missed/ignored, and will only be exacerbated by trying to scale this business.
Some people just need to be employees and not owners, and there's nothing wrong with that

Never mind, I take back all the nice stuff I said above. frick these people

I considered throwing a $10 their way, until I read the write-up. Talk about a pretentious douche. Guess what, 98% of other coffee shops might be worse, but at least they insure their contents.
"Oh, everything we have was poured into this, which is why we 1/4 replacement insured!"..

Before we entered into our adventure with coffee, me and my family did a lot of traveling over the course of 5 years. Out of 36 States, Canada and the UK, I threw away nearly 500 cups of espresso based coffee drinks because of how bad they were.
Yet they've been able to afford to travel to 36 states and 2 foreign countries in the past 5 years....more traveling than most of us will do in a lifetime. But couldn't afford to buy insurance, and now looking for donations because of their poor decision making?

That Andru girl would get more donations if she was hot

truck insurance and partial insurance on the trailer, but there is absolutely no way that it will cover even 1/4 of our losses
One can buy as much insurance as they require. If they thought so highly of the operation and had so much invested in it, they should have upped their coverage. Bailing people out has a way of not teaching lessons.

They look like a bunch of millennials that knew a hell of a lot about drinking coffee but not much else about life, i.e. getting insurance to cover your arse and not putting a plastic tarp on a generator that has an exhaust that will melt said tarp and cause a fire.
EXACTLY!!!
You've sunk everything you have into at business with as you say "no plan B" and you don't fully insure it? You're ONLY source of income and you don't protect it? You don't insure the contents of your only source of income? WTF!?
Plus, how much did it cost to really start this business and how much will it cost to rebuild? It's a small portable trailer with coffee equipment. We aren't talking about a 3,500 square ft. brick and mortar store that cost at least $200k-$400k to build.
Look, you feel bad for good people who lose their business due to accident. But you HAVE to understand there is risk and take steps to protect yourself just in case. This sounds like a group who didn't want to pay the cost of insurance (because who really LIKES paying for insurance) and got burned (no pun intended). Now, instead of taking some accountability for the mistake you're panhandling from strangers? If your business was so successful, go do what many small business owners do and get a small business loan to start things up again.
Maybe I'm just an a-hole, but I have too much self-pride to ask for handouts to make up my frick-ups
