Has anyone else noticed the chief position seems to be a revolving door of younger people? I've noticed this in several markets on multiple stations.
Here in Columbia on the biggest station, the two most popular weather guys have been around a while and are pretty well liked (I mean, for mid market weather guys) and yet the "chief" who I assume is their boss is always some younger guy. The same station has gone through 3 or 4 chiefs in the past 3 years.
Just seems strange.

Tom Konvicka is tGOAT of chief meteorologists. Another great thing about Ellick. I believe he’s fighting prostate cancer so keep the chief in your prayers

Ed Piotrowski is the weatherman for WPDE, the ABC affiliate for Florence/Myrtle Beach. He has been on air for 25 years and is a bit of a local celebrity.

Technology and thought move fast in the world of science. Meteors are no different except that the younger kids tend to adapt faster than their predecessors. Viviani for example. Galileo was old school and let the kid do most of the TV stuff. And here we are today.

Here in DFW David Finfrock has been chief for over 40 years at our NBC affiliate. Trained by the late great Harold Taft himself.

No meteorologist in South Carolina is as popular as Joe Pinner at WIS. He's been there almost 55 years, most of it with WIS being the NBC affiliate for the entire state. And he will always be known as Mr. Knozit.
