Unless I'm mistaken, Pat Shingleton has no weather education. He just learned from the wind.
However, Dr. Josh Eachus just earned his PhD. I trust him. Hell, I trust him a shitload more than that Robert Gautreaux idiot who said there was no way BR would see snow.

Usually, television weather personalities move up in market value. Carl Arredondo started out in Corpus Christi iirc. He moved to the Weather Channel around 1988. He then moved to WWL New Orleans. Carl has a bachelors degree in Weather Communication from the university of Saint Thomas in Houston. UST is my alma mater too. I have a bachelor of science in meteorology.
The American Meteorology Society allows tv weather casters to call themselves "meteorologists". I guess it helps the paying memberships ?
Most tv weather people do not hold a degree in meteorology.
