This whole thing is a cluster. I downloaded the entire database and have it searchable. Not because I am a curious about who did what, but because I wanted to know what was in there about my throw away email. Just know that headlines, preferences and everything else is in there. If any of you are worried, I will look it up for you.

Can you view according to state?

I saw a graph this morning showing what state had the most users. Alabama had the most. I was guessing Utah

Who actually has the free time to sit there and search for everyone's email address? Or gives that much of a crap about it?

I read somewhere that it could have possibly on been showing Alabama had the most users because that would be the first State in a drop down list of States. Kinda like when I'm on sketchy sites and they want my bday and I say it's 1/1/1980 or some shite.

With a site like this, people will often put spurious information to attempt to protect their privacy. Alabama is the first state alphabetically so it was the most often used.

Something like 30% of Steam users were born on January 1

and that's just due to laziness, not anonymity.

Unfortunately the world we live if you sign up for the ashley madison site and Bam it is hacked. Oh well, it is not worst then being caught in bed with the person. When you sign up you make a conscious decision to cheat. No worst then that billion basketball owner that was caught on tape saying racist shite or Paula Deen saying shite 10 years ago. That is the world we live in now.

Ah okay. I know very little about this site, but wouldn't you want to put your correct state so that you could match with someone in your state to hook up?

And, if that doesn't matter, then why in the hell would you be a high profile person and use your correct info?

I agree. Friend of mine signed up one night drunk with friends. They dicked around on the site for a little while and he deleted the account the next morning. He didn't cheat and no intention to cheat. Told his wife everything and she is cool but his name is out there as a cheater. Sure there are many like this. And some wives may not be as forgiving.

Then Ashley Madison isn't the site for them.

It is sad. I am not grouping the guys in that have not cheated but I am talking about the married ones that have actually used the sites for hookups. If you signed up for the site and your spouse sees you can explain to them why you signed up. If it was a mistake and you actually didn't use then I am sure your spouse will understand. These people killing themselves really must have heavy a consciousness aka really really cheated to take it that far. I really don't see everyone's sentiment for these people.

I just still don't think it's right that it came out this way. Maybe a site where you could check email addresses one by one and spouses could just check that, but a massive dump of info for everyone to see is just wrong. I don't approve of the site or what it was built for; I also don't approve of how these people were outted though.

How much does it cost to sign up?

Spending a couple hundred dollars or more goes past just peeking at a website imho

Using it to lead a double life is shitty. I don't think anyone has any sympathy for them. Problem is people reading the list don't know who really cheated. So a high school teacher that is on the list but didn't cheat and no intention to cheat is fricked.
