A man led Richland County deputies on a chase at speeds of more than 90 mph, crashed his car and then fought with a deputy while holding a 2-year-old girl – and it was all caught on live TV.
The action unfolded on “Live PD,” a documentary series on A&E network that follows law enforcement agencies around the country with cameras and airs live on Friday and Saturday nights.
During Saturday’s show, Deputy Chris Mastrianni is seen pursuing a small SUV down Monticello Road and onto North Main Street, telling dispatch that the chase is reaching speeds of 75 and then 90 mph as the cars whiz past Interstate 20 and onto North Main Street.
Mastrianni follows the car onto Elmore Street, where it crashes and overturns.
The 2-year-old girl was turned over to a relative, and Martin was taken to jail on charges of failure to stop for blue lights and siren, assault while resisting arrest, unlawful conduct toward a child, driving under suspension-third offense and simple possession of marijuana, Wilson said.
Unlawful conduct toward a child is a felony that carries up to 10 years in prison, under South Carolina law. Martin also faces up to a year in prison for the assault charge.

Was an intense chase but my jaw dropped when he came out running with a baby in his hands. As a dad I was super mad at that guy. Then when he was on the ground and reached for his pocket I thought for sure he was coming out with a weapon.

Yeah so did I
Thankfully he didn't. Cop would've never saw it coming

Makes sense. If he just ran off and left the kid the cops could just ask it who its dad is. Kids that young don't know enough not to trust cops yet. The cops will use that to their advantage.

Or they could run the license plates, or pull DNA from the vehicle
The fact that you think the kid knows her fathers name other than daddy anyways is mind boggling

So basically, had he not fled the scene he would have gotten a ticket for weed. Nice move.

Dude is lucky he didn't get his arse shot when he went to his pocket while wrestling with the cop

Ehhh.... They found bullet shells in the wreckage of the vehicle and they knew he had just come from a place where shots had been fired.

Think he fled the scene of a fight with gunshots...calling attention to himself, could be wrong though

Kudos to that Deputy. I thoughts he handled that situation the best way that it could be handled. It is sad that someone would put their child in danger like that. Thank goodness that it didn't turn worst than it was. I watched it live last night and as a father... I got so pissed when I saw it. I also got pissed when that guy was shouting that he was the victim.

Ehh... The rest of the show was the same ole DUI, suspended license, simple possession crap. This shite came out of nowhere, and it was a pretty intense couple minutes. The other hour and 45 minutes were pretty boring.

Yeah, they don't know enough to know that their piece of shite father doesn't care whether they live or die as long as they get away either. I care about his life as much as he cares about his daughter. Is that wrong?

Hope he gets all 11 years with no parole!

This coming on the heels of that pursuit in New Orleans last week that ended with one man dead, a two year-old child dead and the driver committing suicide on the scene after running due to the car being stolen.
Then, his parents went before the press and blamed the Louisiana State Police for killing their family members. He ran from North Rampart in the Quarter all the way to Chef Menteur Highway. This was eerily similar. But this guy crying and carrying on, then blaming the police for "this how another black man go down..."
Tom Morris would have choked him out had he been on location in Richland. But I'm probably racist for being angry over this entire situation. He went for Mastrianni's chest at first, trying to get hold of something. If he'd had anything other than weed in his pocket Mastrianni would have been badly injured or killed, because Mastrianni didn't see it at all.
Pee. Oh. Ess.

Every time I think I'm desensitized, something proves me wrong. When he got out the vehicle and you saw that baby being tossed around....I was as scared watching tv as I have ever been. Then watching Mastriani struggle with him in the ground as he was reaching in his pocket, I thought we were about to witness what could've happened a year ago.
He and Lawrence are by far two of the best cops, and people, on the planet. Lawrence's statement at the end was something that should be played on all BR news channels.

Baby MaMa with her 2 cent...
At one point she blames the cops because they were trying to get that cash for the inmate... whatever the frick that means
