I recall being pleasantly struck by the interval growth of the live oaks in the median at the 10/12 split upon moving back to BR after Katrina, and I've enjoyed watching their growth since then.

I was surprised to see them all removed yesterday.

They were well away from the road and on the verge of being full-grown majestic trees.

Are they planning to do some road work/expansion (in 15 years) that required the removal? It is a real shame

I believe they are doing a flyover lane on 10 so people won't have to merge 3 lanes to get to College/Acadian. It definitely looks different without the trees between the two interstates.

yep, doing a flyover for the college drive exit for the west bound I-10 haulers, prevent the wild multilane squeeze play going through the westbound I-12, that causes a lot of back ups going westbound.

Part of the I-10 expansion to the bridge.

Baton Rouge Green (a great organization - batonrougegreen.com ) is going to replace them 2 to 1.

Stop spending so much time staring at trees and read a newspaper or some local news site. There is a current project underway at the split.

Doesn't seem like all of the trees would be in the way of that.

its so you can flyover to get to college drive and sit for hours at the red lights on college.
