it sounds like a cry for help
In an idea world, what would this help be? Do you think he didn't have access to all of the "mental health help " he could get?
I think often times when people want to push everything off to be dealt with by expensive PhD mental health professionals, they fail to see that sometimes a person just wants a genuine fricking friend to ask him about his life and feel close to and show him he's genuinely cared about and needed, and the friendship isn't rooted in his success and fame.
I don't think mental health professionals could have erased that mans past. Maybe he just felt constantly surrounded by people he didn't trust. This is probably a big reason musicians and celebrities go through mental health issues often because they're constantly seen as inhuman and all their relationships stem from their external side and these people try to become those identities people believe them to be and it constantly tears them away from who they are. Once the tearing away stops they look back and lose themselves and realize they have no foundation in their identity.
When you are constantly trying to be something you're not it taxes the soul I'd imagine. One day you'll get tired of faking it and then you can lose hope that the real you is not the person that everyone seems to value... And it all just feels empty.

Depression is an extremely powerful and dangerous thing. Many often think their loved ones would be better off without them. People with depression like Chester often aren't thinking normally

... very selfish. I understand he may have been battling addiction and/or depression (often, one creates/strengthens the other) but he should have sought help.
Things should change when you have kids. It should be more about them.
I wish any anyone battling depression and/or addiction would fight through it. Just set your pride aside and seek help. Talk to a close friend, seek professional help, whatever you have to do. Eventually, things will get better.
You really don't get it. It's not that easy. You're looking at it with a rational mind. People suffering from mental illness don't have that luxury.

Glad I'm not on Facebook anymore to see how sad all of my "friends" are that someone we didn't know and never met, died...
You probably have some antisocial stuff going on, but I agree with you that it's annoying to see people putting on some big drama show because some celebrity that would have never given them the time of day died. It sucks this dude died, but in reality it doesn't affect me any more than the other thousands of people that die everyday. When the Linkin Park dude ate too many jalapeños at Chipotle, I'm sure his a-hole burned just like the rest of us.
That said, T's and Ps, RIP, etc.

Well, maybe he should have manned up like I said and got some help.
frick him for being so selfish and leaving 6 kids and a wife behind.
And I do get it. I've been clean for 5+ years now and battled addiction which lead to depression. And I didn't have millions of dollars to get the best help. But I got help and pushed through until things got better and now couldn't be any better.
Dude was selfish.

grats, yet here you are with a greater than thou attitude.
Maybe he did man up and get help, you assume he had not which history says he has done so many times.
Maybe it just wasn't working for him, which happens a lot. Because reality is, not one medicine or therapy works for everyone, if it did, it'd be pretty freaking and we wouldn't have this problem.
But here we are, with people with problems in the world. Your addiction and your problems are no worse or better than his and no two people's addictions/depression are the same.

He took the cheap easy way out. Sounds like a fricking loser to me.
Drug and alcohol abuse is no joke. Alcohol destroys lives and breaks up families. It leads to serious mental problems on top of the traumatic experiences one might have as a child.
The guy had demons he couldn't get away from. I hope no one close to you struggles. You'd just deem them a loser and push them further to the ledge.

His music helped me get through my own depression battles growing up. Sad that he couldn't find the right kind of help for his self. RIP

Suicide is a selfish and cowardly act.

is this the screamer or the rapper?

Before you judge, consider the mental condition he even had to be in to leave behind 6 kids and wife. He obviously was not thinking rationally and needed help but wasn't getting it.

A music icon has died, leaving behind 6 children and all you can think about are your retarded political beliefs. Just wow

I think he imitated his friend Cornell.

Suicidal depression is essentially a terminal illness. It will eventually kill someone who has it.
They may draw strength from their relationship with family and friends or intense therapy, but sometimes that only delays the inevitable. Depression is like a fog or darkness in thought. It clouds and obscures everything - including the love and connection you may have with other people.
We all have a breaking point.
