Lines at academy to pay are out of control

Now we want self check outs?

They clearly don't want your business. If it is like the one near me there is the one register open with six or eight useless assholes standing around near the front door doing jack shite.

The last time I was there trying to buy something I was the twelfth person in line at the only open register. I had three things in my hands waiting. I watched the powwow at the door for a couple minutes, then walked past the check out toward them, handed the shite to the one who looked line a manager, patted him on the back, and said, "You mind putting that shite up for me? I don't have an hour to wait to pay for it." I then told him to do better.

Recently I was at Academy with two registers open. A guy at one register kept abandoning it to run over to the customer service desk.

As soon as I was next in line, sure enough, he left the register and jogged over to costumer service for a couple of minutes. When he returned he apologized profusely. He explained that three employees didn’t show up for work, and he was also training a new employee.

He had to jump on a register to speed up check-outs. However, the new employee could process returned merchandise, but she couldn’t approve it. He had to run over to review the returns and enter a code.

Customer Service had a surprisingly long line of some of the trashiest people I had seen in a while.

Pro tip. Walk the store. Find what you want. Buy online for pickup. Chances are there is a restaurant by your academy. Eat, come back.

Learned that gem during covid.

Their new checkout system is awful. Makes me not want to go there anymore.

Next time you’re at Academy, grab a pair of socks - the smaller and lighter the better. Grab a shoe box and stick the socks under the crepe paper in the box…maybe even grab an extra sheet of paper from another box to really cover them. Stick the shoebox back on the shelf.

The person who tries to buy the shoes one day will really get a kick out of being accused of shoplifting at the checkout. Everyone appreciates a good prank.
