Lightning strikes killed more than 100 people on Thursday as powerful thunderstorms lashed northern India during the annual monsoon rains.
Bihar, one of India’s poorest states, was the worst hit. At least 90 people were killed by lightning, according to Avinash Kumar, a senior disaster management official in the state.
Lightning kills more than 2,000 people a year in India, but Thursday’s single-day toll was the deadliest in recent memory.

Stay home, stay safe
There was likely a single house struck by lightning that had 100 people living in it. They stack people in houses like cord wood over there.

Just because lightning strikes kill more people than covid doesn’t mean we should all go back to work. Just like with lightning we need to stay inside!

The biggest rainstorms that produce double the lightning usually happen in the daylight to lunch time period. Aboot 7-11 is the prime strike hours.
