I’ve never been inconsistent on this point. I think hanging is a inexpensive and efficient way to put someone to death without being overly cruel. A rope and a scaffold. That’s all it takes. If done right death is quick. It’s one of the oldest methods for a reason.

After watching Shawshank Redemption, prison life looks pretty mundane and casual, except for the first night or two there.

Life, naturally. I will be rehabilitated and feel good about my atonement. Prison is to teach us lessons, not break us down.

You sure you can get up when you want in prison? I've always thought they wake you up super early in the morning, no matter how tired you are, (after sleeping on the most uncomfortable bed in the world) and make you eat that disgusting slop they seriously call breakfast.

Rape is one of the worst aspects of prison.

What percent of prisoners get raped? I'd guess upwards of 50%.

Prison rape happens but not as much as that, they had statistics up on some studies that ranged from 5-20% depending on the prison by other inmates or staff at the prison.

But there is consensual sex in prisons between inmates

I agree. I'd prefer the death penalty.

I've always wondered why people on death row always appeal just to get their sentence reduced to life in prison. I'd only appeal if I thought I had a chance of proving my innocence and actually getting out of prison.

I’d take an immediate death over life in prison, but would take life in prison over 30 years on death row. Sitting in a cell not truly knowing your fate and when it will be while not even being able to go hang out in the yard and interact with other human beings seems like the most tortuous thing in the world.

Life. I could easily Shawshank my way out. Easily. I've seen that movie like 20 times.

To me, it's just a made up word, a politician's word, so that young fellas like yourself can wear a suit and a tie and have a job...

Rehabilitated?

It's just a bullshite word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shite.

Step one to getting out of prison on an appeal is making sure the state doesn't kill you why you're there. Getting a "reduced" sentence buys you time.

What kind of bullshite is this? You must be a prison guard. Ask any prisoner that's been incarcerated for 20+ years if they feel rehabilitated when they get out. Life has passed them by and it's not a wonder they go back because it's all they know.

Technically your bed just has to be made and you cell has to be inspection ready. Also they force you to have a job so most inmates have to get up and go to work.

Side note: In Russia they don't let you sit down at all between 8am and 4pm
