Yeah and those college grads always get replaced by other college grads. Crazy I know.

I don't know how that's funny, it's actually true. Time to time there's a wreck and it's worse, but that's actually not far off.

I'm basing this off of what I'm told by the folks in my office who live in Denham (work in downtown). Regardless, you don't leave a city because of traffic to go live somewhere where you will encounter more traffic.

I live within 3 miles of Juban Crossing. I work downtown and have for the past 7 years. I left my house just before 8 this morning and was at the office for 8:30 (summer schedule).

For every 10 minutes I leave earlier in the summer, shave 5 minutes off my commute. Now there is a period during the first two-three weeks of school letting back in where the transverse is true. But WGAF if I have to leave at 7:00am or a little earlier than that for work? That makes absolutely, positively ZERO difference in my life.

When there's a wreck, yes it can be frustrating. So can ANY CITY when a wreck blocks major arteries.

But bottom line: I make the commute and have really since I was an 18 year old Freshman commuting to LSU from Denham every morning. However your coworkers are doing it, they're doing it wrong, brah.

I'm laughing because I've sat in I-12 rush hour traffic (sans accident), and there's no way in hell that I moved 8 miles in 10-15 minutes. Not even close.

I did it yesterday at about 4 which MAY be slightly earlier than real rush hour and never went below 55.

Summer time is better, but people that live in Denham aren't lying. I'm not the biggest fan of the commute personally, but the numbers aren't that far off. Probably closer to 15 than 10 but it's still in that range.

I'm telling you what my typical experience is

It's really only slow in a couple of spots. Most of the time, I'm going at least 45

That's a nice little breakdown. Now tell us about your evening commute...

Oh, and also about how you avoid the BTR traffic by somehow going right through the city.

The worst part of traffic for me (and I get on downtown on 110 and finish at Juban Road on I-12 each and every day) is the elevated section of 110. There are strange slowdowns intermittently after the split until Airline, but from there its relatively smooth sailing afterwards. Those Airline slowdowns on 12 aren't every day and aren't just weather or wreck-related too. Just weird how it happens every now and then.

I'm guessing you haven't really traversed the mean streets of I-12 since the six lane opened all the way to Walker. It really eased things up.

Regardless, I'll snap a pic of my clock in my truck this afternoon when I get onto 110, and then once I'm at the Split, and then from there to Juban for you.

Should be enlightening.

Summer time is way better. Traffic engineers typically don't even take counts during summer months because of it.

But I'm also not lying in saying that you don't move further away from a city in which you work to avoid traffic. There's simply no logic to that idea.

I worked in ascension and lived in BR so had a great commute along i-10 every day. Watching all those bozos sitting in traffic driving into town.

Oh I agree here. The main traffic is in BR, though. The majority of the drive for people living in LP and commuting to BR is most likely not on the interstate.

Several times.

Traffic has been non-existent pretty much everywhere around here this week and last, which is typical for the waning months of summer.

I don't see a single thing listed that makes it worth driving to LP for. Bragging about getting an Olive Garden is like bragging about having genital warts. Everyone is grossed out by it and no one wants to go near it.

By a clientele with a high rate of genital warts, by the looks of it.

get off your high horse. 80% of sexually active people have HPV. like the never-ending soup and breadsticks, it's nearly impossible not to get.
