To be clear, this is not about just telling people to change their light bulbs or to buy a hybrid car. This disaster has grown BEYOND the choices that individuals make. This is now about our industries, and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.

Now that is a very convenient position to take, considering the toys and homes this guy owns.

They are pretty good at their own greed. I wonder why they don't blast the star athletes for their own form of corporate greed. ... hell, they don't even supply anything useful!! How about politicians?? Well, the list goes on for all things not blasted by the dumb and the restless from Hollyweird. Phuqueing weirdos.

I doubt many of these stars believe the lefty shite they say. Their actions certainly do not back up their words.

My guess is they know that people eat it up when they bash evil corporations and praise mother earth so they just roll with it.

It is good for business.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. Nobody knows anything. Humans aren't supposed to think they can figure out how to save the planet. Our minds don't work like that. Even the scientists who study this have blind spots that prevent them from seeing the implications of their proposed solutions. We are due for a correction and it's going to hit us like a ton of bricks, because we've all mostly gone crazy.

but it's ok for him to get paid $25MM for a single movie?
Let's see:

Our country is at war and people are being killed to preserve oil and the Petro Dollar.

Some insignificant actor makes movies that people watch and eat popcorn.

Yeah, exactly the same thing.

"Awards galas" are typically just bullshite excuses for representatives of companies to lobby policy makers, so Leo is kind of a hypocrite.

Kind of. The honoree is actually there to draw in certain policy makers and other influential people. The sponsorship tiers are set up to give the top sponsors better access to the big wigs.

An event like this is designed to attract government officials who want to be seen with a pop culture icon and appear to be down with the people. They, in turn, are schmoozed on by sponsors, who get more access to the VIP's the more they donate. The organization gets money from corporate sponsors and the company officials get exposure to policy makers.

The celebrity is honored and gets the PR that comes with being a swell guy, but it's really just what we call "cause-based marketing." George Carlin put it best when he said that celebrities champion causes "1. to increase their popularity, 2. to make it look like they give a shite about something and 3. to ease the guilt of having so much more than they deserve."

So again, Leo is a huge hypocrite.
