I don’t think these are actual LSU classes, just classes people can take for fun after work or whatever. I never took one but always wanted to.
Same. I look at the options each season, but never signed up. I’m part of the problem.

I took a Cajun dance class at LSU back in the day with my then girlfriend. It was fun, I guess the kids don't care about stuff like that anymore
My wife and I took this class from Roland Doucet and his lady Shirley. They were great teachers.
Roland is tGOAT cajun dancer. He can literally take some overweight uncoordinated woman and lead her around the dance floor like they have been partners for years.
Sorry to see that program go.
RIP LSU Leisure Classes

I think you're right, some students maybe able to get some credit for them. I know a couple of retirees who have been involved in these programs.

Wait... I don't understand the article. Are they talking about ending the Cajun Dancing and Woodworking classes... Or all the leisure classes?
They have a lot of pretty decent classes. Maybe wheel throwing can go but the Notary class and beginning Italian are pretty good.

These are classes offered not only to LSU students but also the general public. They have absolutely no bearing on graduating and do not count toward a degree.

These classes actually teach people skills, unlike liberal arts.

You are aware that English/Literature, History, etc. are Liberal Arts academic areas, right? Most idiots out there definitely do not need that going away - regardless of how risky it might be to major in those areas.

Back in the early 1980’s, Golf was a popular elective along with Pistol Marksmanship.

No the guy who helped Roy teach us is a pro at Greystone.

I took guitar class over there back when I was still in high school. I cannot overstate the profound impact that had on the direction of my life.

When will social justice, women’s studies, African American studies, etc be added to this list?

Back in the 90's, they taught a homebrewing class. Is that one still on the list? I'll bet on "no".

Took a beer brewing class around 1992. Can you imagine a time when the only craft brew option in Louisiana was Abita?
Later on with my then-girlfriend, took a wine tasting class lead by a guy named Steve Staples. We would meet at a restaurant in the Bocage area. Learned a lot from him.
Would hate to see the whole program go away. There seemed to be something for everyone.

They should be. That sort of class can be taught at the adult education community college. University fees are too high to waste funds on leisure classes.

These are like $40 “classes” that meet once or twice. Not for-credit courses. Anyone in the community can sign up.
