Mick admitted Mutt is largest influence on why he became alcoholic; couldn’t live up to his expectations. Died shortly after liver transplant at 63, so that worked out well

Choose carefully because if you get wrong you’re jeopardizing her D1 scholarship potential.

You should teach her to play golf. Im not sure what it is but it's a scientific fact that no left handed golfer on the planet is bad at golf.

Does she have NIL representation yet? Watch yourself, big softball will stick it to you in negotiations.

My little guy is a lefty. I’m not, but lots of people on both my wife and I’s side of the family are. I was really careful to let him gravitate to whichever hand came naturally. When he lined up to kick a ball left footed and bat left handed without being shown, it was obvious.

Your daughter being a lefty in softball is more of an advantage than you might even realize. I knew some girls at LSU that had a scholarship just because they batted left handed and were decently fast. They were able to get down the first base line a few steps faster than everyone else since it’s a straight path. Which was the difference between out and safe lots of times.

Well I am living proof that this is 100% false.

My 5 year old daughter has played a season of Little League baseball and is now starting her first season of softball. She is naturally left handed. I know being a lefty batter is an advantage, but I think there might still be time to teach her to throw right handed. In baseball, the only IF positions open to a lefty are 1B and pitcher, but the limitations are offset by the advantages of being a lefty pitcher, I’m not convinced the differences in arm slot and ball movement in softball will make being a lefty pitcher as useful. Should I try to swap her to a right-handed thrower while there is still time? I’d love to hear thoughts if anyone has experience in this area.

There is so much fricked up in this statement that I already feel sorry for the girl. Let her play how she wants to play and quit worrying about things that dont matter in life. You have a 50/50 chance that after 3-4 yrs of domineering father coaching that she will give softball up and change to Dance class... Speaking from experience.

Make her a nasty left handed pitcher with some ball movement.

You might want to check out tennis if she’s a lefty and likes the sport.

I don’t see a lot of left handed tennis players. Special talent.

don;t mess your kid up, is she left eye dominant as well? handedness is an innate trait, not a learned one. trying to force a change will cause her problems. look it up

Her name is much more important. Hopefully, it's Kayleigh or some variation thereof.

Definitely let her be lefthanded if that's what she is naturally doing. Also, in softball LH catchers aren't as taboo and you see some especially at the HS level. I've also seen a few LH second basemen. If she's a good athlete they will find a position for her, it just won't likely be SS or 3B.

Let her do what’s natural. Forcing this is bone headed. If she can play, she can play. Plus, shes 5 man. Mine plays CF on her travel team and 2B for HS. Bonus points to f she has speed from the left side. Speed doesn’t have off days..

The only thing you should be worried about is the smile on her face and what's gonna be the after game snack. These moments are precious and shouldn't be filled with development nonsense. She might not even take to softball and by pushing her too much you increase that likelihood.

She can play first, pitch, or any outfield position. Let her throw with her natural hand.

Would you force her to transition to be a boy because men are typically more successful in life? No, you wouldn't.

Let her develop naturally.

Dude, she’s 5. At that age these dayd, consider it an accomplishment that she even likes softball enough to go outside and practice at all. If she actually wants to learn to throw right handed, great. But don’t force it on her and risk frustrating her to where she doesn’t enjoy it anymore.

If she does like learning right handed, let her practice with both hands. I had a teammate who pitched and played 1B. He was probably our best player, right handed. One day at practice he dropped his glove to hop over the 3’ mesh fence down the right field line to retrieve a foul ball and threw it back like a rocket with his left hand. It shocked the hell out of everyone who saw it. Come to find out, he was a natural lefty but his family made him learn to throw right handed because his glove was handed down from another relative. His family was poor and couldn’t afford to buy a lefty glove for him, so they made him learn to throw right handed. Coach bought that kid a lefty glove and he ended up pitching for us with both hands after that.

You should have started working with her on this 3 years ago. She probably won't even make the travel team now.
