i am sure there are some great cars for this, but to think you are smarter than people who do this for a living is a great way to lose money.

Let me put it to you clearly...
If it was a business leasing the car for an employee I would understand, it's a business write off, but not as a private individual...
Sorry for the confusion....

Leasing is like having a non-stop car note... Granted the payments are a bit cheaper, but it never stops...
After a 3-5 year loan it's yours... We traded in my wife's '09 Acadia this year and got $15k for it..... After not having to pay a car note for 3 years....
And the best part was the sales tax credit for the new purchase....

I currently lease both my vehicles - an Infiniti and a Range Rover. It made sense to me to lease the monthly payment isn't all that much and I'm able to keep my vehicle under factory warranty for the duration of the term. I'm also glad I did - I'm not really happy with my Range Rover so when the term is up next year I will get something else. I'm also way under my mileage so I should have a smal amount of equity in it since they hold their value relatively well.
I forget the exact figure but somewhere around 70% of "luxury" vehicles are leased and a quarter of all vehicles are leases. I agree it's not for everyone but having done both I prefer to go the leasing route - at least until I find that vehicle I can't live without.

its not a write off if they buy?
a business is going to do what is best for them as a business...you don't think leasing can be the best option for some individuals as well?

another thing to keep in mind is the make and model; some manufacturers have pretty lucrative lease deals on certain cars. Some cars have horrible lease deals and you would be nuts to lease one.

You own your house outright and are wondering about leasing a car?
Cough...bulshit...cough.

$30K/year millionaires have to keep up with the Joneses somehow.

Or a luxury car is one of the absolute worst investments one can make, so they are better off renting it then owning.

depends on what type of luxury car. Many of them hold resale values really well, lexus, BMW to name a few.

Your house, do you own or rent...?

Used to lease cars at a different point in my life. Mileage restrictions suck and you are forever leasing until you finally nut up and break the cycle. The answer is ownership. It is the way to go.

I used to be 100% against it, for everyone.
Now I will agree, in certain very rare instances, it can be tolerated.
So now I'm only 99.3% against it.
