Mike Wood, the founder of the LeapFrog toy company, died earlier this month by physician-assisted suicide. He was 72.
His brother confirmed to The New York Times that Wood died “surrounded by family” in Switzerland, where physician-assisted suicide is legal.
Wood’s brother told the New York Times that Wood made the decision to end his life due to his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. Wood wanted to do so “before the disease progressed too far,” the outlet reported.

Going out on your own terms vs your mind rotting away like Bruce Willis currently fighting FTD
This seems better than doing it yourself, like Robin Williams did when he thought he had Parkinson's. The autopsy later revealed he was misdiagnosed and had Lewy body dementia.

Absolutely not even a shred of hope for a cure via AI-assisted research?

We put dogs and cats down humanely. Why do we force older people to suffer through some terrible illnesses?

My brother grew up on Leapfrog and V-Smile or V-Tech.

Because it returns such a great profit for hospitals and big pharma

Slippery slope- as proven by MAiD in Canada, for one.
Second reason being that animals can't actively choose to end their suffering, humans can. It doesn’t take a doctor to lock yourself in a garage, OD on diphenhydramine or suckstart a pistol.
The moment you give the state a part in the matter, the state starts having opinions... their opinion is usually not in favor of 'useless eaters'.

Exactly. I have worked with children who had severe disabilities. They could not walk, talk, feed themselves, or use the toilet but their capacity to give and receive love was immense. When traveling in Europe I didn't see any children in similar circumstances and learned that most people with serious disabilities are euthanized there. I don't think a person's right to live should be determined by their perceived usefulness.

But, shouldn’t that person be the one to decide?

He was 72, too bad he didn't opt for jumping off a cliff then having his head smashed by a giant hammer.

Isn’t this where we want to eventually be? This would put us on the right track.
I’m tired of lazy people. I really don’t care what we do with most people because they are lazy and entitled.
Most people could die and literally no one else is affected.
Talk about fricking your life off.

Well, that's your opinion. Not a bad opinion for an individual to have, but a terrible opinion for a nation state to take on and act on- therein lies the rub.
What is lazy? What do you think lazy is? What do the authorities in charge of healthcare and death promotion think it is?
Where is the line between productive and lazy?
I am a SAHM that contributes nothing to the economy at large, but have raised and am still raising children... I do not contribute to the GDP or taxes, am I "lazy" because of this? Should I end my life because I don't give money to the government for roads, schools and healthcare?

Maybe people who like lazy people could pay for food stamps and us hard workers could get a refund on our taxes

You raise children that probably won’t commit crimes and will be productive so you in turn are more important than me who just works a boring job.
Bottom line crime, living off the tit, drug abuses. Etc.

I'm pretty sure I'm home free on my adult daughter... jury is still out on my 15yr old boy, lol...
Would you be comfortable with the government deciding who qualifies as a criminal, welfare recipient or drug abuser for the purpose of offering them euthanasia? I'm not.

LBD is a far worse diagnosis than Parkinson’s imho.
