The exchanges between Perez and Long were noteworthy.
I would have to go back and reread the story but Perez and either Huey or Earl fricked the state back in the day when Louisiana was negotiating with the federal government for where our state waters would end. Louisiana lost out on some major oil rights so they could enrich themselves.

Interesting. I couldn’t find it anywhere on maps or specific location.

Does the Perez family own the Stella plantation and hunting/camping place in Braithwaite? That place is insane. Millions of dollars poured into it.

Yes, they still own it. Two of the grandkids (a brother and sister) run it together. They have a lot of events there. They also have a few rental cabins on Paloma Lake.

The byzantine nature of US title law kind of let Ol' Bill obfuscate and cover his arse while engaging in what I'd call flat-out theft. Didn't even lose his law license, if memory serves.
lawyer from acadia parish did and went to prison but, the people he shafted still got shafted

Yes. It's no longer owned by the Perez family.
CHalyn and Lynn don't still own it or their heirs? I know some guy from North Carolina was looking at it(family owns land near there) but didn't think he bought it.

You may be right about that fire. I cant find any news about it either taking place in the 80`s. She`s in her 90`s but `I`ll ask her about it. Regardless it looks like the land was grabbed during a very corrupt time in the parish and maybe by now it can somehow be proven again to be taken illegally. She did say a judge did make a statement during the 80`s that he didn`t see any reason why the land and royalties should not be turned back over to the original heirs. She said that judge did not have final say so and it was later rejected by another judge.

and I believe that was bohemia heir land that wiggled off the hook. But it's not roylties from that land as the coal is only transferred there, it's just big time rent.

In that link you posted this is one of the pictures with a caption talking about pheasant hunting.

Are they slinging live pheasants off that tower and shooting them?
