Anyway, the last few pages have proven my original point. So many of you just refuse to blame Trump for anything, despite all the evidence out there, but a hint of wrongdoing from a Dem leader brings out the wolves. This mayor absolutely deserves scrutiny and criticism over this move, just to be clear where I stand on it.
Nashville has fine testing operations, has extremely low hospitalization, etc.
John Cooper just covered up truth about the data to support his political agenda. He caused dozens of small businesses to be closed permanently, killed tax revenue, then passed that deficit burden onto tax payers with a 34% property tax increase.
I don't live in Nashville, but a lot of friends do. I can't imagine how mad I'd be.
And this morning he hasn't commented on the leaks but his office did announce easing of restrictions on bars and restaurants, school sports, and stadium capacity.
He's clearly admitted he should've done this a while ago and is only doing so to cover his own arse after being caught. He should resign. Period. He has had his "task force" arresting and fining bar/restaurant owners and patrons for months.

Dude should be locked up after anyone that unjustly suffered due to his lies has gotten to kick him in the dick.

Steve Glover, the most anti-tax guy on the Metro council, will not let this pass. Cooper is in big trouble.

If everyone loved their life like an asteroid was going to hit then the world would be a better place.
All of government is incompetent. The president right down to your local democratic mayor's they are all stupid but an accurate representation of Americans because most Americans (except me of course) are dumb.

People freaked out because the president is a liar and everyone knows it. All politicians are liars.

Those entities would be wise to all capitalize on this and open up with no restrictions, or however they see fit. They will get substantial backing from the community and probably even the local media.

He has been anti-mask from the start.
I'm not going to go into the rest of the crap you spewed, but this is bullshite.
I can't seem to find it from a search because shite gets scrubbed and moves so fast, but from one of those early media hit pieces on Trump's response, from March or so, one of the anonymous sources was belittling Trump for being so worried about masks rather than vents or testing when having discussions on response in meetings.
So...continue confirming your biases, moving the goalposts on everything, and the like.
To educate you...during January-March the media was pushing seasonal flu as being the bigger worry, encouraging people to visit various China Towns, decrying Trump's efforts to ban travel, and saying how quarantining people from New York was "scary sounding" and unconstitutional.
Anything that Trump does is blasted by the media and Dems, doens't matter what. Peace deals in the Middle East? Obviously only done as a distraction. Nominated for Peace Prize? Clearly we need to cancel the Peace Prize.

There are quite a few small businesses that will never be able to re-open because of his restrictions. His office is about to be sued out the arse and the tax payers will foot the bill.

Suing the government is incredibly hard
If we weren’t so comfortable these people would be lead out of their offices by force

Yeah it is, unfortunately they don't have many other options.
Check out John Coopers twitter and the responses to his COVID number release this morning

Undoubtedly. And those companies should be able to put him and the health officials in that area into permanent bankruptcy before they are thrown in jail.

Exactly. And precisely why it’s long past time to due away with qualified immunity for elected officials.

Do you feel like most of the city officials have a vendetta against Bars? Like they are mad that they can't go to them anymore because of negative publicity in the citizens eye."OMG" JBE is at reggie's getting plastered, what an idiot/incompetent fool. Seriously what is their beef with bars? They are opening themselves up for a multi year litagation when bar owners/attorneys get the slightest glimpse of an all out winning streak against state/local governments.

has there been any successful lawsuits or rulings yet?
emergency declarations give the government all kinds of power they normally wouldn't have, and it is, unfortunately, completely legal to our court system
I'll commend anyone fighting the government on this, but don't have high hopes that any of these will be successful

Glover says this is Metro Nashville orchestrating a cover up
Of course, they're never going to admit in executing a cover-up. But I would absolutely love to hear the city's explanation of what this was, if not a cover-up. Because whatever excuse they come up with will be ridiculous and should be met with sarcastic laughter from all directions.
I've become amazed at the utter horseshite that some of these governments throw out to their citizens and they, ignorantly, swallow it whole. The amount of citizens who are "shocked and appalled" at the actions of their governments is crazy. They all must live under the same rock.

Absolutely. I passed on that article because it chronicles a lot of the missteps the administration took, primarily in the early days of the virus. There have been mistakes made across the board, and I honestly don't have a problem with some of the mistakes if the decision making behind them were made in good faith. Those are learning opportunities for future improvements. I don't necessarily agree with every point made in the article, but when taken on the whole, it's hard to disagree it has been mishandled by the administration.

Honest question Spleen, if Trump had siezed control and forced policies on the States akin to what Xi did in Wuhan (or other leaders in Socio-democracies), would you have supported it?
Of course not. That'd be antithetical to American ideals, and most likely illegal in many ways. I don't think we should have exactly followed any country's response because every country has their own political and cultural limitations.

Wait, I though people died because the President downplayed the virus. People actually freaked out and made a run on meat, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies because he downplayed it?

This has been the most disappointing aspect of this whole COVID deal. My fellow citizens willingly threw away their civil liberties because some "scientist" told them too. It's fricking AMAZING.

I'm not biased yall. The administration that tried to ban travel from China in January but was met with major skyskreaming is the one that messed up.

Let me guess, all of Trump's supposed missteps were bad, but all of the liberal mistakes were learning experiences made in good faith. The mayor this thread is about just made an honest booboo

Translation, whatever Trump did or would have done is wrong. I have no answers for what should have been done, but whatever he did or would have done would of course have been incorrect. OMB
