There aren't many health care professionals that have the China flu experience my wife has. She worked 2 travel assignments in ICUs in supposed "hot beds".

Hospitals that normally never want patients transferred to their facility, drooling over positive patients.

a nurse friend of mine just quit her clinic because she caught them testing the same people over and over and providing more "positive cases." she saw that they were flagging it as a new positive case, not just a positive test and raised hell. turns out, that was the hospital policy so she said F it.

hospitals are absolutely loving every positive test. Drs and healthcare professionals aren't necessarily.

A pandemic is defined as an illness or virus that spreads over multiple countries or regions

This is true.

so no it's not a crock of shite.

However, this is false. This virus has less than .01% mortality rate. By using this logic & metrics, death by lightening strike should be labeled a pandemic. Thus, making this particular "pandemic" a steaming crock of shite.

anecdotal evidence

this whole thread is about proof by emails, that the Nashville mayor manipulated the numbers to justify his decision to shut everything down. not sure how that is defined as anecdotal evidence.

quote:

And your anecdotal evidence of not personally knowing anyone severely affected by it doesn't negate the severity of it to others

Again, the MAJORITY of people who catch this virus are relatively unaffected. stay home, Lose smell/taste, run a fever for a few days, get over it, residual sluggishness, & return to normal. Small MINORITY of people have severe symptoms high sustained fever, shortness of breath, coughing, get over it, residual sluggishness, & return to normal. even SMALLER MINORITY require further professional treatment & hospitalization. and an even smaller MINORITY of people who catch it succumb to their maker & pass on. I have seen all of the above & would be more than happy to share examples of each, with the exception of death. Not to mention, the bullshite numbers that they ARE reporting, back this up. That, you cannot refute.

My question to you is, if this virus only causes death in such a small percentage of the population, then why are we still allowed to drive cars, considering car accidents kill MANY more people annually than this virus ever will? If the VAST MAJORITY of a population remain unaffected after infection, and are able to fight it off, (which is backed up by the Covid numbers published everyday) then please remind me again why you support justification of good, hard working people getting their livelihoods ripped away from them from the shutdowns.

quote:

The biggest risk with it has always been how easily it is spread in a community.

you really don't know this to be true. this is just what you are told & what we are all told.

And how do I know?? Because there has been an ungodly amount of misinformation put out in the public surrounding the virus. Case in point.... THE frickING MAYOR OF NASHVILLE GOT CAUGHT RED-HANDED LYING ABOUT THE ACTUAL NUMBERS RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC!!!!

You guys are raging over businesses being put in difficult situations, while the inaction and rhetoric from our president has lead to our death count being higher than it should have been.

I completely reject this premise.

Which do you value more, human lives or business continuity?

Again, your premise is void of evidence. But even then, this framing is illegitimate. It’s not an either/or proposition. Why can’t at-risk people isolate themselves and allow the rest of society to go on functioning?

Thanks for the links. Yes, Salon is just slightly biased, but at least it's consistent.

I don't know if this article qualifies as "investigative" or "gothca" journalism, but least they're trying to hold those in power accountable, like their vaunted profession is supposed to do. This is one reason I'd rather have Trump in the White House - it guarantees me that the press will work overtime to point out every mistake he makes. I have no confidence they would do such with a democrat in the same position.

Yep and someone needs an example made if then so the other politicians can be intimidated by fear of prosecution. I believe that all infringements on constitutional rights should come with at least a substantial fine if not jail time depending on the offense.
