MIss State still flys the flag on campus, Ole Miss doesn't.
But Ole Miss doesn't have to worry about recruiting bc the ncaa will take care of that soon anyway.

If we do it, can they stop being a bunch of whiny bitches about everything?
If so, I'm down for removing it.

So if a minority wished to fly the flag as is...what?
You're a highly educated man, so you know how it works.
If we lived in a direct democracy, voting would probably look more like Facebook. "Whichever proposal gets the most likes is law!"
In our federalist form of government, the majority will agree on one thing, but disagree on so many things. The group loses unity as it gains size. This is to the advantage of the minority groups in the lawmaking process.
All of this is rather tangential from the original point of the thread.
Do I want to see the flag changed? Yes. People who think changing the flag is going to all of the sudden make race relations better are kidding themselves, though.

How do you feel about Hamilton's idea that a certain level of education should be necessary to be able to vote?
In my mind, the entire purpose of our republic is to reflect the wishes of the majority, as if we were in a direct democracy. I agree that that doesn't mean using that as a way of taking away the rights of or not protecting the minority. Defining "rights" is the difficult part today.

And nobody says shite about the Alabama Coat of Arms...

They should just do it. The SJWs will keep coming back until the conservatives give in. The millennials are too ignorant to know what it is all about so they will take the path of least resistance and side with the SJWs.

amazing that second class citizens can get a law degree these days. Maybe if he wasn't continuing to be held down by the white man he'd be president!

You realize a suit just like this one gets filed almost weekly and has been for the last decade?
Posted on 4/13/16 at 12:37 pm to High C
I don't care one way or the other but if you want a sure fire way to keep the flag as is, file a lawsuit. That will piss off the state leaders and voting bases even more and it for sure won't get changed

This bullshite should not have even made it to a hearing. It should have been dismissed the second the 12(b)(6) motion was filed.
But, considering the judge, not surprised.

It just doesn't make any sense to use the battle flag.

My only qualm with it is that it has the battle flag and not the Stars and Bars. I actually like states that have multi flag displays to show their history.

Dude has zero standing. Case dismissed.

I don't believe Confederate symbols have any place on state symbols or flags. I think it's downright stupid and lacks any place in reality. That said, getting issues like this wrapped up in the courts and wasting untold public funds to litigate these issues is even more idiotic than an American state glorifying Confederate symbols. If there's enough momentum to justify a general election to remove a symbol, go for it.

Clearly the flag being visible is causing these problems though. Once it comes down, expect everything to get better.
