Electricity can be made up for, no city water service is a major problem.

Seeing what I have over the years I would never have a metal roof on a wood frame house unless it was standing seam installed correctly.

Sorry to hear about your parents

Wind is better than flooding because most of time in floods you keep the same structure and redo insides. Lots of these wind damaged places you have to tear down and start all over

Let me know if you do. Mine will need complete redo.

I have some crews that work for me in North Carolina begging to come and I have 4 crews in SWLA currently. Just not sure if I can turn off the faucet to my current clients that give us so much work. I am figuring out the logistics still but I will let you know.

Yea but it's easier and cheaper for several to repair than replace. It'll be interesting.

If you are handy, now will be the time to pick up some rental and flips too.

Yes. Hip roof is more favorable for higher wind loads and/or snow.

Yep, a hip roof with a 7:12 pitch is ideal for residential construction.

Thanks. Yeah I can't vouch for it's construction...it's an older house. Seeing everything around them though, I don't think it mattered much how it was made

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the recovery for them.

That big slide requires a leap of faith to make it down safely.

Outstanding! The Little Kahuna water park is a staple of culture for the region and I’m glad they’ll be able to get back up and running quickly, so many Calcasieu kids have spent their summers there in the decades since it was quickly constructed and put into operation.

I have no doubt the house is built well. my point is the majority of "contractors" do not install metal roofs correctly and also standing seam is the best metal roof you can have in high winds.

Eh those both currently have <20% chance of developing over the next 5 days iirc. We might need another thread in a week.
