It's crazy that Laura is tied for the strongest hurricane to ever hit Louisiana

That wasn't a prediction, it was a maximum.

Maybe get a shipping container box to lock up tools. Would be fast and easy to do. Going to take time to get people back in for repairs.

9-12 ft of storm surge. So it looks like they were about 10 ft off on the prediction.

I talked to a guy that was on a tugboat in Cal River, he said the wind was 120+ then once the eye came over them it lasted for about 15-20 min...then the water came up about 10'-12' max.....

As you say this, the governor says the storm surge wasn’t as high as predicted

Even if people are able to get into places like Cameron or Holly Beach right now, I bet there is zero internet service for uploading videos or pictures.

We’re never going to be able to get insurance south of i10 after this

To be honest, all property south of I-10 from Houston to west of Tallahassee should require flood insurance.

Yes, more people would have to pay something but it expands the risk pool and includes a natural risk prone for flooding area anyway.

How flood insurance works today is a case of stupids.

What if I’m not even in a 500 year flood plane?

They have to put the reasonable worst case scenario in the predictions. If they don’t, and the worst happens, then things are 100x worse than when the surge isn’t as bad as it could have been.

I don't care what the governor says. I saw the actual model the 20 feet was based upon and the probabilities assigned to various surge heights. 9-11 feet actually had the highest percentage probability.

I'm just saying, this is an actual fact.

Also, it’s not like 9-12ft surge is something to turn your nose at. That is very high surge.

Ouachita Parish has the second highest number of Entergy customers out statewide. It’s a freaking 3rd world country up here.
