Boat, you think that line has some high winds with it?
Not really. Gusts to 40 maybe. It's a lot like the band that went through Houston during Harvey. I'm not saying it's going to sit and drop 30 inches. I mean that it's about the same distance away from the center as the Harvey band and it wasn't all that windy in Houston.

I didn’t realize the center of the eye had to reach land for official landfall

Landfall is when the center passes over land. It's crazy how many trained people don't know that.

Most of the surge will come a couple hours after landfall
Posted on 8/27/20 at 12:20 am to NorthEndZone
Surge rose over a foot in 6 minutes now 7 feet above normal 2 feet or a total of 9.

Surge will follow
Stories after Rita about cattlemen driving down the road after the storm, then making a 180 and driving back out as they could see the water coming

Cameron might survive. You'd be amazed at how well buildings can handle strong winds. And everything down there new is built to code. If they didn't get the surge they were expecting with a state line landfall the post-Rita buildings might have survived.
