I'm sure this has been stated before, probably many times, but it's worth repeating.

The meteorological professionals (we know who they are) contributing to these threads and to this board are worth their weight in gold and well deserving of the respect given them. Pretty damn selfless people IMO.

I post infrequently but follow their analysis and commentary closely. This is a personal thanks for the time they put in keeping the rest of us in the loop and safer for it.

Many thanks.

I’m going to Austin if my power goes out. Gonna get a house on lake Travis for the week.

Yep! Lafayette back on track for a double doozie. I went to the store but forgot beer.

There are many household goods that can get you through this. My favorite is vanilla extract. A little draino and water over ice hurts going down, but it does the trick.

Just fyi for people in here Entergy said they're not flipping your lights on until Thursday if they go out tomorrow. This is of course factoring in the extent of the damage. You have trees on your line you're fricked or obviously high winds where they can't just go out to flip a branch off your line with a stick since they can't work in higher winds. They also have new covid-19 procedure that will make their response slower.

Tried to pick up a generator this afternoon. None at the Lowe’s, Home Depot, tractor supply, or Stine in LC.

Yeah, Marco is gonna get guillotined.

The question is, where?

Shear was always going to tear up Marco. How far inland it gets before the low is uncoupled matters in regards to who gets the rain.

Yes. Levi is the best. So it’s possible, regarding Marco, that Louisiana gets dry- ISH wind, and Mississippi and Alabama get most of marco’s rain. (If the storm decouples.)

Laura is still a little shaky. I worry that her more southern track/over mountainous terrain for less amount of time —will indeed allow her to strengthen more, especially since the gulf is so hot. But we still don’t know if Texas gets the worst of her or Louisiana. Or if she’ll 50/50 half Texas and half Louisiana

I'm 15-20 miles south of Lafayette and won't leave unless I guess "maybe" a 2 but 3 for sure. 1 I'm staying put. Funny thing is my plan would be to evacuate to my sons in Lafayette -- guess I need to ask him if he cares!

Just curious, but how many hurricanes have you ridden out that were direct hits?

Rita carved the shite out of western LA. The forgotten storm that absolutely skullfricked Louisiana. Nobody remembers it outside Louisiana because of Katrina but Katrina ravaged SE LA and then Rita came to finish off the rest of Louisiana. Looked like someone dropped a nuke going up the border.

It amazes me how Lafayette people feel a hurricane will affect them so bad.....40 miles from coast?

Huh?

I live 225 miles from the coast in WNC Our worst natural disasters have always been from land falling tropical systems that come up out of the Gulf.

Hey, the information from fools who are always wrong is still valuable as long as they are consistently wrong.

The core of my retirement planning over the last fifteen years has been the "always bet against Peej" strategy.

I’m well aware. Holly Beach looked like Pass Christian after Katrina.

My comment is just asking how many people in this thread have actually ridden out a hurricane and where did they do it? My suspicion is very, very few have actually experienced sustained hurricane force winds.
