How bad is it going to get in Lafayette?
Bad, likely catastrophic.
But that has nothing to do with a hurricane. It has to do with the goings on at a particular gas station at the moment.

I’m sure this has been answered but is there a chance these things get stronger than a cat 1?

That makes me feel a tab bit better. Hoping their tracks just go crazy over night and we have nothing to worry bout but a bit of rain.

I honestly don’t know what to believe. It seems like the models are just as confused as the forecasters. Has this phenomenon ever been observed before? I’ve read about the fujakawa (sp) effect but isn’t that all theoretical?
I mean these things were originally almost a thousand miles apart and now are making landfall within 100 miles of each other.

Guess it is too early to come up with any reasonable rain estimates for New Orleans?

Not necessarily talking to you specifically, but most people who say this have never actually taken a family through a hurricane of any strength. I realize most people ride hurricanes out just fine, but most are not in the immediate path. Riding out Katrina in Hahnville is different than riding it out in Pass Christian.
I understand all the busts that happen, but a category 1/2 in the immediate impact area is no joke.
