The fact that the government is literally bribing people with free fricking cheeseburgers to get tested for a virus which apparently isn't causing enough symptoms on it's own to necessitate those folks seeking medical attention/testing without offers of fast food is further evidence of just how ridiculous this ongoing overreaction is.
It would be one thing if they were trying to get a bazillion people tested to provide "evidence" of just how relatively few people have the virus. However, I seriously doubt that is the goal. In fact, just the opposite.
"Hey! Not doing anything for lunch? Come over and get a Big Mac and a Covid test. We gotta keep pumping the fricking numbers up!!! How the hell else are we going to keep our fearmongering going?"

This is going to come as a complete shock to the OT, but not everyone who eats fast food is fat and unhealthy.

Well, not quite. Considering it's a BR McDonalds franchisee that is giving out the vouchers. Probably had a ton extra to burn with sports being cancelled this spring.

So the state has to have some kind of gimmick to get people to test but yet I am supposed to believe that they are actually testing as many people as their numbers suggest weekly?

Sadly, I seriously doubt that was the logic behind the incentive.
There’s a better chance they are trying to mass test certain areas and demographics. It’s not for their benefit, but to increase positive results.
