They are running the streetcars until 4 hours before the parades both uptown and mid city to try and stop people from camping out and reserving spots. Endymion isn’t getting treated differently in this situation.

This was what they “traditionally” did up until about 15 years ago on St Charles, by the way. Mardi Gras Day used to be the only day they didn’t run streetcars all the way downtown at all.

She could strangle someone to death on camera and she's still a shoe in for reelection.

Latoya is a horrible, horrible person but this isn’t really on her. It’s asking a lot of the city to juggle parades throughout the city when resources are stretched on a normal day.

I wouldn’t want Enymion to change (loved when I lived on Orleans) but I can see how it would help the city out if it did happen.

Do the street cars not run 2-4 hours before parades on St Charles??

Ummm... they are running on St. Charles. Now, we can argue if that's a good idea or not, but it's the same as Canal / Carrollton.

Here's the deal. NOPD doesn't have the manpower to staff two major routes on the same day. Even with the 12 hour shifts. City resources are stretched thin.

The seeds for this were planted when Mitch decided to cut the budget to get it in balance, and laid off a bunch of people, and didn't invest in new NOPD recruit classes for a few years.

Back when the city had 1800 cops it was no big deal.

Endymion, if they want to continue to be different, is going to have to pony up the cash to be different.

So there’s a police cost issue? This is the ONLY reason given, so why blame the mayor for this?

Imagine if the Essence Fest wanted to have a parade that would cost the NOPD $50K. Everyone on here would bitch and would applaud the mayor if she told them no.

I’m no fan of the mayor, but this thread is useless.

That was what allowed us to ride this year by pulling JPD and harbor police.

No guarantee the city accepts that as a solution next year.

We are assuming what the city will do.

If Endymion pays for all of the increased cost, then to me, the city should accept that.

If the city doesn't accept that, then that's another issue we can discuss, and i think the citizens would have a lot more questions.

Endyminion is really a second rate parade. When they move it uptown next year give it the Wed before Mardi Gras weekend time slot.

That's logical though.

I currently wouldn't trust the city to use any logic

The uproar that would come from Mid City residents would be huge. You know Endymion will come out and say that they offered to anything the city asked to stay there.

All true. She’s going to do everything in her power to move it next year after she failed this year thanks to the leaders of the Krewe.

Lot of members at the meeting got the feeling that even if we did everything with the new changes perfectly that the city told us this year, she was going to amp up the pressure to get her way next year at any cost.

Know who's fault this is? Your fault and every S O B that votes for Brillo Brain walking talking shite on a stick. The "people" are racist to their core and deeper if you can track it. Suggestion: Find a candidate that loves the city and all of its people, not just one race. It's a monumental challenge but N.O. can again be what it once was. just need the right leadership.

City heads presented a powerpoint slideshow and at the end of each slide there was the phrase "The city cannot handle Endymion" or something like that. 39 department heads attended on the city's behalf
