then I would expect my property taxes to go down...instead of quadrupling over the past 10 years

Millages haven't increased anywhere near that over past 10 years... so I would guess most of your increased tax bill is due to higher valuations. So congrats, I guess.

Also not sure how a single hotel project would result in a noticeable decrease in your taxes. Unless you have a 20 million dollar house =)

I wont notice a difference with or without the hotel..makes no fricking difference to me...dont chastise me by saying I cant afford to live without the taxes from a new hotel...

my property tax bill has more than tripled since I bought this house 8 years ago.....and its not because of in higher valuation.....I've been fighting them on assessment values for years...and actually got them to lower it last year..

I didn't click the link and it took me several posts to realize we weren't talking about LaToya Jackson. Still not used to the "No Landrieu" environment.

The hotels and restaurants should chip in and build their own convention center. Leave the city out of it.

Help me out here, how have your property taxes tripled and your house assessed value not increased? I know we pay more for SWB now than a few years ago but what else?

I agree. My property taxes have gone quadrupled since the storm, and I have not seen anything come from it.

Has anyone elaborated on the "good" LaToya is doing?

I try my best to not follow politics, but it doesn't seem like she has gone full retard like a Baton Rouge or Jackson Mayor yet.

I wish I could help you but I’m just as confused as you are.

No. They only say she’s doing better than Mitch.

Which means absolutely nothing to me.

People don't realize, large conventions are a gold mine to the city hosting.

But NOLA already has plenty of hotel rooms within walking distance of the convention center. Putting one on-site only increases the chance convention goers don't leave their room and spend money elsewhere in the city.

But she's not acting like a SJW Democrat in a lot of ways. In some, she is.

I wonder if that's just an act she uses to Pander to her base and get elected.

Some of her actions don't fit her rhetoric. I wonder if she's secretly businesswoman/conservative

17.74 million in a year is more than 48,000 per day. That does not seem realistic at all. Even 10.98 million is over 30,000 per day. More realistic but still may be exaggerated.
