A Ukraine meme thread isn’t a bad idea right now, tbh.

So since NATO is seemingly firing up,
I believe that there is currently an armored BCT in Europe (unrelated to this incident) as well as the 82nd mobilizing. Seeing as the US has stated that armored units will be most important against a Russian or Chinese threat, I’m assuming we’d see armored BCTs being amongst the first of those (of any) heading to Europe?

Reason they are reluctant to ban Russian banks from SWIFT. Russians banks would be crippled , but they also cannot repay Western banks the tens of Billions in loan / interest payments.
And Europe have any way to buy Russian oil which they badly need.

We’re getting real close here. Japan is about as close as we’re going to get to NATO outside of NATO for getting us involved in anything.

The 82nd is in Poland 50 miles from the border with troops somewhere less than 6 miles from the border.
We really need to work on our opsec more.
Apparently without saying so, we flew into Ukraine the other day with 2 Ospreys and 2 C130s and flew some people out.
Also, saw on facebook a few days ago, people wishing all the soldiers from Ft Bragg good luck in Ukraine.
Like shut the frick people. Wait until they get back, then say whatever you want.

Poland just bought 250 Abrams last week.
Safe to say they are not there yet.

You would think air superiority would be the most important thing to establish first.
The Week UK article. Russia Vs NATO who would win
Has some good info on troop and equipment numbers and some plausible scenarios

3rd Armored of the 4th ID is in Europe if I’m reading correctly. They have armor per TOE but I’m not sure if they have Abrams in Europe
Current TOE Somewhat confusing to me as there are battalions in the same regiment that are then in separate BCTs

this entire post would be as understandable to me as if it were in spanish. I wish I knew all of these terms/acronyms

Should be enough to scare Russia. They know they don’t have the resources to feed her.
And she comes with a built in gap so they can’t surround her.

Unfortunately, in today's age, that isn't going to happen unless the cut cell service and comms.
I am aware of a fellow who was just sent to Poland a few weeks ago. Gotta feel for the guy. He enlisted less than 8 months ago and according to his family, received very little training.

This is an interesting analogy:
“ While Felgenhauer agreed with Golt’s assessment of the US’s military advantage, he warned that open warfare often comes down to far more than the inventories that each side of the conflict can call upon.
He told DW that “it’s like predicting the result of a soccer match”, adding: “Yes, basically, Brazil should beat America in soccer, but I have seen Americans beat Brazil in South Africa, at the Confederations Cup. You never know the result until the game is played.”

History is peppered with stories of armies that were better equipped and far outnumbered their adversaries, yet still lost.
Never underestimate a cornered, wounded animal. When it becomes (or can be painted as) an existential threat to a people, all bets are off.
This is going to get ugly. I was hoping for a better outcome but it looks worse by the minute.

TOE = Terms of Engagement
BCT = Brigade Combat Team or Battalion Combat Team, I think

I know. I was talking about the silly soccer analogy.
