11th Guards Air assault Brigade. Guards is an honorific in the Russian/Soviet system to denote units that are high speed and/or have a notable history. They are a cut above ordinary troops. And airborne forces are elite in their own right. These guys knew WTF they were doing. They're not 18 year old conscripts from Siberia.
One theory about this operation is that STAVKA knew it had no chance of succeeding but sacrificed them as a diversion. Which indicates the callous cynicism the Russian army has toward even it's elite troops.
BTW displaying prisoners like that is against the Geneva Convention but I'm not gonna sweat it at this point. At least they didn't drag them out and shoot them.

No one wants World War III and I think there is at least a 10% chance it has started. While they realized it quickly in WWII, it took months for people to realize the seriousness of WWI.

I agree, I dont think he goes postal and starts flattening cities. I do think he will continue to escalate until his demands are met. He's committed.

I remember very clearly how the left reacted to Trump, which is why it’s so obvious how many on the right are reacting to Biden.

I’m not necessarily saying folks are happy there is a war, but there clearly people who are happy because they believe it to be another black eye for Biden.
