Reminder of who the Odumba-Brandon administration rolled out in 2014 after they got caught installing a puppet government

Russian forces appear to have launched a two-pronged assault to link the separatist-held areas with Crimea, as they entered Melitopol, and are now launching an attack in the outskirts of Mariupol

So far, the Ukrainian lines in the Donbass have held very well. But Russian attacks are likely meant to isolate Ukrainian forces dug up along the line of contact.

More info to back up this claim:

(Reuters) - Ukraine's military said on Thursday that Russian forces aimed to block the Ukrainian capital Kyiv while creating a land corridor on the southern coast towards the annexed Crimea peninsula and the Transdniestria region of Moldova.

I doubt it. Turkey is still a part of NATO sure but they've been drifting away from NATO for years now and into the hands of Russia.

The two have centuries-old enmity as well, but Erdogan has gotten very cozy playing up Russia while spurning the West.

Hell, Turkey got kicked out of the F-35 program because they purchased an advanced Russian missile defense system despite warnings not to.

Turkey has also sold NATO weapons to the current Ukrainian regime as well. There were also some tense moments between the two during the height of the Syrian civil war. Turkey isn’t a good ally to either side and is likely a wildcard. I assume they will go the way the wind blows in their perceived favor to be on the winning side should all hell break loose.

more that it's deliberately not pursuing a "shock and awe" strategy.

I believe this to be the case. If Putin's intent is to keep Ukraine, why would he obliterate the infrastructure just to have to rebuild it.

Wish Roosevelt would’ve felt this way too

I hate Biden as much as the next person, but can we save this thread for info on what is actually going on in Ukraine?

I prefer not to wade through 10 political posts to get real info about what is happening on the ground over there.

An interesting thing to keep in mind is that Ukranian service members have likely been trained on and have used much of the same equipment Russia is currently using. Anything that is captured in battle can and will be used by Ukranians against Russian forces without much of a learning curve.

The illegitimate installed occupant of the White House said today: "We never expected sanctions to do anything"

Can't believe people voted for this moron because they thought the adults would be back in charge

Bro, I agree with you but can we please keep this thread to updates about the actual war?

I figured that the warhawks would lean on Biden to jump at the opportunity to get involved. This won't go over well here as people are piling on that Biden is weak, but if that tweet is true, I give them some credit for showing restraint.

Are we not allowed to point out our ineffective and hypocritical leadership? The American government has been a complete disaster in terms of foreign policy for the last 40 years

Yep. They have a lot of the same equipment. Tanks, guns, planes... On the ground it has to be a bitch to know friend vs foe in a lot of instances.

Read somewhere that’s why the Russians painted a “Z” on their tanks and equipment.
