At least 23 killed, more than 300 injured in Russian drone and missile attacks across Ukraine over past day

by Anna Fratsyvir June 25, 2025 10:54 AM

Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least 23 people and injured more than 300 others over the past 24 hours, local officials said on June 25.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian forces launched 71 Shahed-type attack drones and decoys from multiple directions, including Bryansk, Millerovo, Kursk, and occupied Crimea. Ukraine's air defenses destroyed 52 of them.

In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a ballistic missile attack killed at least 20 people, 18 in Dnipro and two in the Samarskyi district, in one of the deadliest single attacks in recent weeks, governor Serhii Lysak said.

Nearly 300 people were injured, and extensive damage was reported to high-rise buildings, houses, dormitories, cars, schools, hospitals, administrative offices, and a passenger train. Drone strikes overnight also hit Nikopol and caused a fire in Synelnykove district.

In Kharkiv Oblast, nine people were injured in strikes on Kharkiv city, Kupiansk, and surrounding villages, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov. Russian forces used a mix of weaponry, including air-launched rockets, glide bombs, and various drones. Civilian infrastructure was damaged, including residential buildings, houses, and an industrial hangar.

In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, five peope were injured in attacks across the Zaporizhzhia, Vasylivka, and Polohy districts, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported. Russian forces conducted four missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia and eight airstrikes on several towns. Around 300 drones, and over 150 artillery strikes were recorded across 13 settlements.

In Donetsk Oblast, three civilians were killed in Pokrovsk, Zoloti Prudy, and Novoiavlenka, Governor Vadym Filashkin said. 11 more were wounded in the region over the past day.

Russia ramps up Iskander missile production by importing machinery from China – investigation

Vlad Cherevko — Wednesday, 25 June 2025, 13:23

Despite Western sanctions, Russia has sharply increased the production of Iskander-M ballistic missiles.

Source: an investigation by Kyiv Independent, a Ukrainian English-language newspaper

Details: The investigation conducted by Kyiv Independent revealed that more than 700 Iskander missiles have been produced in Russia over the past year, three times more than in 2023. This surge has been made possible primarily by importing machinery from China, Taiwan and Belarus via intermediaries.

The main executor of the expansion programme is the Votkinsk Plant, which assembles Iskander, Yars, Bulava and possibly Oreshnik missiles. Journalists found that since 2023, the plant has received new equipment, particularly computer numerical control (CNC) metal-cutting machines, which are essential for manufacturing missile components.

Although Western restrictions prohibit the sale of such equipment to Russia, the plant has bypassed sanctions through a network of intermediaries. Deliveries were made by little-known private Russian companies such as the Ural Machine Tool Company and Kaurus Alliance. Of the ten identified contracts, eight originated from mainland China, with some deliveries also coming from Taiwan and Belarus.

The facility has also physically expanded: two new workshops have been built, over 7,000 units of equipment have been procured and the workforce has grown by 2,500 employees. Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence reports that as of June 2025, Russia has stockpiled at least 900 Iskander missiles – 600 Iskander-M and 300 Iskander-K variants.

Background:

The expansion comes amid large-scale attacks on Ukraine. In 2024, Russia launched 245 Iskander missile strikes on Ukrainian territory – 4.5 times more than in 2023. This year alone, 180 such strikes have been recorded. However, analysts note that a significant number of missiles remain in storage.
These developments indicate that Russia is not only replenishing its missile stockpile but also preparing for a prolonged confrontation.

When obama sent "pallets of cash" to Iran, it was their frozen assets....plus interest.

It seems all of Europe is eager now to dump refurbished weapons to ukraine using "interest off Russian frozen assets".

You will note when blinken left office he guaranteed the 50 billion "loan using Russian interest off frozen assets" that Europe, not the US that Europe had committed to.

In other words, all of Europe is dumping refurbished weapons, no doubt at exorbitant prices, using the same "interest"(the same interest over and over, which does not exist at this point). Why, because for this to all end it will force Trump to repay Russia for this, the same as we did with the Iranians.

One more reason for us to back completely out of this and let the Europeans fix it....and pay for it.

He should have gotten the axe for spamming the board 16 hours a day seven days a week.

The way he was cheerleading Russia’s killing and maiming was in bad taste too, but I don’t think that did him in.

I'm impressed by this round of Kumbaya-ism.

I guess it also extends to North Koreans... they don't have a say in who their leader is or where he sends them to do things.

Neither do Iranian troops or civilians...

and Palestinian civilians are totally caught in the middle of some epic bullshite. They don't want Hamas or Hezbollah representation them, but if they say anything they get tossed off of a building.

And lots of Israelis hate Netanyahu's policies on anything, but he built a coalition of Israeli far-right nutjobs and religious fanatics that keep him in power.

The leader of NK
The leader of Hamas
The leader of Hezbollah
The leader of Iran
The leader of Israel

War keeps Netanyahu in power. Personally I think he is a criminal. Is rael has been allowed to run rampant and he would love to draw the US in to another ME war. He is no better than that nut job in Tehran that is a so called Supreme Leader.

Lefties are super convinced that other people are too far to the right, not that they are too far to the left.

We have been moving left for decades (and not just 'America' we, civilization in general 'we') and people are seeing the results of that and not liking it. We didn't suddenly get an influx of far right people. The average person is open to left-wing policies, but they have to work or they won't vote for it. People are seeing them not working and no longer voting for it.

Bibi seems like the most Churchillian pol of our lifetimes. I dont really mean that as a compliment.

Im unfamiliar with Israeli election schedule and term limits but Id guess he'll lose bigly if he runs again (see: Churchill after WWII). With that said, if I were a Jewish nationalist Id love him as much as I love Trump today.

News18: ‘Misguided’ Putin Wants More Than Ukraine, Donald Trump Warns
US President Trump refused to call Russian counterpart Putin an enemy, but says more invasions are ‘possible’.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said it was “possible" that Russian President Vladimir Putin could attempt to invade more countries beyond Ukraine, suggesting the Russian leader may have broader territorial ambitions.

“I consider him a person who I think is misguided."

...

Remember back at the start of the invasion when Macron got off the phone with Putin and said "... I'm afraid he wants the entire continent."

Of course, he can't take Ukraine, a smaller military that is outsmarting him constantly. But insanity wrestles with reality confident it will win in the end.

You're talking about domestic US politics.

I was talking about Israeli politics. Not the same thing...

He may end up eventually cutting a deal to step down to keep himself out of court.

Just about every war that we have fought in the last 30 years has been in large part on the behalf of Israel.
