Ukraine strikes Putin’s prized spy planes

Operation Spider’s Web successfully damages A-50 surveillance aircraft, key to co-ordinating Russia’s fighter jets and missiles

Ukraine has damaged at least two of Russia’s rare A-50 surveillance aircraft in its audacious drone attack on Vladimir Putin’s strategic bomber fleet, according to intelligence shared with The Telegraph.

Footage shared with this publication clearly showed one of the Ukrainian drones hitting the radar dome of a hulking Soviet-era spy plane sitting on the apron of an air base.

The aircraft was protected with what appeared to be sandbags aligned across its wings.

A second A-50, shielded by tyres carefully lined across its airframe, also appeared to be hit by a Ukrainian-piloted drone, again landing on its radar dome.

It is not clear whether the Russian A-50s were destroyed, but even damaging the aircraft would be considered a prized scalp by the Ukrainians.

Moscow was believed to only have seven operational versions of the spy planes, which are estimated to be worth £235 million each, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

The A-50s are considered highly important for organising Russia’s air defences and co-ordinating fighter jets and bomber aircraft attacking Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials had claimed to have struck at least one of the spy planes before, but the footage shared with The Telegraph remains the only proof of their apparent success.

The three-minute-long video clip showed an array of Tupolev bombers engulfed in flames after direct hits from Ukrainian drones, which were launched from modified shipping containers parked near four air bases deep inside Russia.

Open source satellite images taken by Maxar Technologies on May 2, almost a month before the Ukrainian attack, appeared to show two A-50s parked alongside each other at Ivanovo Severny air base, one of the bases targeted.

The two aircraft were spotted being shielded with debris lined up carefully across their wings, as in the drone footage shared with The Telegraph.

It was clear from the footage that it is the two same A-50s, as one of their radar hulls is tinged with a brownish colouring.

Do you know what type of retard you have to be in order to believe Ukraine would have not released the footage like they did right away of the other planes being hit? I am sure they are working on some AI manipulated videos as we speak If the video wasn't released to the public within 48 hrs like the other videos then they don't exist

They were something like 19km away from Sumy last I saw. If they don't take it relatively soon something has gone very wrong for the Russians.

Well, more than already has to this point

JB will be along shortly with a story saying that either:

(A) She's actually an enemy combatant; or
(B) This only happened because Ukraine shot down the rocket causing it to fall here

East."[24] Sukharevskyi previously served as Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces.[25]

Key Takeaways:

Kremlin officials publicly acknowledged that Russia seeks the “complete destruction” of Ukraine, indicating Moscow’s disinterest in good faith peace negotiations and a near-term resolution to the war.

Ukraine struck the Kerch Strait Bridge on June 3 for the third time since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Western officials and open-source analysts continue to clarify the battlefield damage following the Ukrainian long-range drone strike series (Operation Spider Web) on June 1.

Russia continues to produce and stockpile missiles and drones to strike Ukraine, demonstrating Russia's continued commitment to winning the war through military means.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced a series of Ukrainian military command changes on June 3.

Ukrainian forces recently advanced in Kursk Oblast. Russian forces recently advanced near Kurakhove.

It’s a look at John Barron the propaganda monkey post embedded Twitter links thread at this point. It’s less informative than before but fascinating for sure.

I am tired of pos like Putin Sabre rattling like a 5th grade bully. You know what you do with a 5th grade bully, you punch that mfer in the nose as hard as you can. (Or in my case you grab a coke bottle from the big mud puddle he pushed you into and crack it across his fricking skull. Bully problem solved for whole fricking neighborhood. I was 6 btw and half his size. frick him still)

I don’t give a frick about NATO or libtards, but I hate bully’s and the pussies that enable them. My whole mfering life is that theme in everything and anything. On the way out I would like to take out as many of them as possible. Putin is a bully, which means he is a pos.

And for his nuke bs, they have maybe 1/3 of what they claim and please target me Putin u bitch, (and I remember you from good old days comrade, but those days are gone, you need to chill and drink a vodka tonic. ), that way I know you will never hit me. Lol. I could get huge odds on it even leaving the launch pad ok.

The only place you will ever see state sponsored Nukes, is with India and Pakistan. (And we provided both with that tech …accidentally)

Our Air Force has about 35 of the larger e3 AWACS. They're being replaced by the e7 which is based on the 737 fuselage and has a cutting edge phased array radar system.

And the Navy has about 85 of the smaller e2s that can be operated off carriers. But even our smaller e2s have better capabilities than the Russian A-50

The Russians at one time had like 14 of the A-50s. But they've lost some to crashes. And Ukraine shot down 2. And now it looks like they damaged another 2. So Russia might only have 6 or 7 of these left in operation.

Whereas the US has over 100 more advanced platforms. It's a major advantage.
