FPV drone warfare has emerged as a deadly threat to armor; even advanced tanks like the Abrams are vulnerable. This will lead to a significant paradigm shift in armor design philosophy.

Indeed. And it already has, as we’ve seen with the field modifications being put on tanks from both sides already. I think the longterm solution will be some sort of radio frequency jamming system. Either way, I’m interested in seeing what is coming.

What you’re doing in this thread is no better than what those actively siding for Ukraine are doing. In fact, it’s the exact same thing, except it appears you’re becoming more obsessed than most, if not all, of them. Get a hold of your faculties and stop with the emotional hysteronics.

What an irony: Ukrainian drones targeted Tu-95 bombers using AI trained on Soviet planes from a museum

The FPV drones used in the “Spiderweb” special operation were guided by artificial intelligence trained on strategic bomber models displayed at the Poltava Museum of Long-Range Aviation.

In other words, Soviet Tu-95s preserved in a Ukrainian museum helped destroy active Russian Tu-95s stationed at military airfields.

Truly symbolic: the Soviet past Putin clings to so desperately ended up helping to dismantle his military present.

quote:

Ukrainian war journalist Yuri Butusov has summarized the details of the operation "Spiderweb" against Russian airbases:

- At the moment, according to our sources, the destruction of 41 aircrafts of strategic and military transport aviation of the Russian Armed Forces at four bases has been recorded.

- Some of the drones attacked the target with auto-homing, the results of their strikes will be determined using satellite images.

- A group of SBU agents transported 150 small attack drones and 300 ammunition to the territory of the Russian Federation. 116 drones took to the air.

- The drones were controlled via Russian telecommunications networks, using auto-homing.

- Drones attacked from a short distance during the day in the deep rear of the enemy.

- The air bases were covered by significant air defense forces - anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare systems, regular patrols with small arms. But the Russians expected night strikes by heavy large strike drones, which are clearly visible in the air, and did not expect an attack by small quadcopters during the day.

- The attack on the Tu-95 strategic missile carrier base at the Olenya base was especially successful, the drones accurately hit the refueled fuel tanks and a significant number of aircraft burned to the ground. An operation of such a scale and with such a colossal economic and military effect, at such a high technological level, has no analogues in the world. - SBU agents successfully returned to Ukraine. Ukraine did not suffer any losses.

Consequences:

- Military equipment worth billions of dollars was destroyed

- Strategic aircrafts which Russia does not produce were destroyed.

- the enemy's strike capabilities are weakened, since these aircraft were an important component of constant terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities.

- the enemy will have to spend a lot of money to strengthen the defense of its bases and facilities.

4 destroyed planes? 41 destroyed planes.

Is the Barron Need Network correct or is the Cypher Network?

Time will tell.

Yes. You are definitely coping. 3-4 bombers damaged out of a hundred and you are acting like it is significant.

I've mentioned this before, but as a fan of the writer Philip K. Dick (and the "Black Mirror" series, which draws heavily from his ideas)... this gives me pause.

One of the replies to this post nailed it IMO:

Poland’s success comes from being a role model for European integration. It has mastered the balance between embracing its European identity and maintaining a strong national character.

Yes. That's good. Poland has a good demographic profile, too... one of the biggest factors being that young Poles don't run to other EU countries the minute they turn 18.

And this is what Russia wants to stop from happening in countries on its border... they don't want them embracing a European identity and integrating with the EU (and becoming less corrupt), and they don't want them having a strong national character of their own (they're Russians/Soviets)...

But let me guess... you think it's because Poland is 98% white or something... despite white Poles being the butt of jokes and thought to be inferior by eastern Europeans for centuries.

Hey Ivan, how ya feeling today? There sure as shite is a lot of Tu-95s burning around Russia today. It’s a beautiful thing to put that ugly piece of shite it’s of its misery. What are you going to do if the reports that an A-50 was hit are true? You only have a couple left that are even airworthy. Russian aviation again proves it’s inferiority to even the Ukrainian pilots, much less American aviators.

Yes. But shouldn't they have launched this overnight? I doubt if anybody would've seen or noticed the drones launching in pitch black darkness (I don't see street lights or lights in that parking lot).

A Ukrainian official has confirmed to Axios that Ukraine provided advance notice to the Trump administration regarding today's attack on Russian airbases.

I guess we have an idea of the "really bad things" Trump mentioned that he had been saving Putin from... and he's tired of being jerked around and he's not saving him from them anymore.

[quote]I was wondering how Ukraine was able to hit targets so deep into Russia. Now, I’m wondering how those cargo containers got from Ukraine into Russia. They had to have outside help because I don’t think there is any commercial traffic going between the two.

Me too. If I'm Russian security forces, I'm also wondering what else the Ukrainians left behind to go bang in the night.

2 big advantages Western spy agencies had in the Cold War:

1) No Soviets actually loved their government

2) No Soviets could resist money
