That might happen, but in what universe have the Russians ever kept the peace?

Is Trump going to declare the ISW a domestic terrorist organization?

Jack Smith.
Rats tend to flock together.
Half the Troskyites in this thread probably has that bitch's picture hanging in their living room along with John Bolton and Liz Cheney.

A quick breakdown of the current minerals rights agreement that will (hopefully) be discussed today in the White House. As discussed before, this is clearly an agreement to agree. Something possibly rushed into being due to the EU proposal.
Paragraph 4.
Let's see what happens today between Trump and Zelensky. Will Zelensky interrupt Trump during the press conference to correct him as did both Macron and Starmer? I hope it doesn't come to that.

Secretary Bessent says the deal with Ukraine is done - nothing left but to sign. Except it is not. The deal will be signed, but it’s far from settled. Key points of disagreement remain, and real negotiations are still ahead So what’s to negotiate:
quote:
The deal that is to be signed today EXPLICITLY states the following issues are to be further resolved: 1. Ownership shares of the U.S. and Ukraine 2. Who governs the fund
quote:
3. The exact contributions of Ukraine. Specifically, 50% of which revenues from which assets must be paid by Ukraine to the fund, and which are NOT to be paid
quote:
4. The investment strategy of the fund: assets that the fund can invest in, how much, when, under what conditions etc 5. Distribution policy of the fund
quote:
6. The U.S. contributions to the fund
Paragraph 4. quote:
The deal explicitly requires to negotiate another deal which specifies this deal This new deal is called the Fund Agreement.
quote:So all in all, a foot in the door for Team Trump but it requires much more work. Much, much more work.
Of the 11 clauses in the deal, 8 refer to the Fund Agreement So yes, the deal is done - no more negotiations needed to sign it But for anything real to happen, another agreement must be negotiated. This deal defers all the details to that next step

As we discussed earlier, another important point to consider in this mineral rights agreement is jurisdiction. This document provides nothing on this except a recognition that it must be agreed upon later.
As we all know, the first rule in any negotiation is that the lawyers get paid first. So this issue will be of primary interest at the very start. And could become a major point of contention the first week of discussions.
Lots of work, many potential hazards.

The Putin fellators on Judging Freedom are all upset about this. That tells me it's a great deal for Ukraine.

Yeah giving up 50% of all revenues from future Minerals, Oil, and Gas and no Security Guarantees is a great deal

If the US is receiving 50% of a lot of money are they less likely or more likely to fight to keep their investment?

Do I think President Trump would put American boots on the ground and kill American Soldiers for some Minerals? Not a chance. Trump hates War and doesn't want to be involved in Ukraine. He wants the Money paid back but is not going to kill American Soldiers for it.

Ukrainian forces destroy Russian ammunition depot, strike Ilsky oil refinery
At night, on February 28, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a storage facility containing thermobaric ammunition belonging to Russian occupiers near Selydove in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. They also struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar territory.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the operation on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"Overnight, on February 28, Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed a storage facility containing thermobaric ammunition belonging to Russian occupiers in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region, near Selydove," the post reads.

quote:Bingo. Plus, the EU consortium is still making calls. So the incentive to get the final Fund details worked out quickly is there. Just hope the Trumpists don't fall out with each other over slicing the pie.

Agreed, no one wants our kids in harms way.
But would he help Europe defend Ukraine?
Certainly.
Russia can’t keep slugging it out another couple of years.

I think people are missing that the intention of an eventual deal with Russia and Ukraine will be a lasting peace.
Some want to assume that Russia will just attack again later. And maybe they do that. But it would be under a new peace plan, and almost assuredly under a new Russian president.
People are underselling how much of an impact Putin's power coming to an end could be. You could get someone in there who is agreeable and wants to cooperate with the US and make Russia (and himself) rich. Or you could get someone who is just as much or more of a warhawk, and they might not be as calculating as Putin which would likely be a bad thing for the world.
