Well, it's not at the core of Ukrainian identity. They've suffered enough, and they will be more than happy to see their persecutors face even a touch of the hell that Russia has inflicted upon them.

He's done a good job for Russia

He runs a criminal syndicate that fronts as a government. He and his cronies have stolen trillions. He is lording over a nation of hopeless alcoholics in a demographic death spiral who's educated class flee the country as fast as they can.

He uses murder to enforce and intimidate even his "friends" much less his enemies. Just today he pardoned the guy who murdered one of his political opponents.

Even those in his inner circle realize their lives are essentially a lost cause to his whims and pleaures.

They all send their children to school, work, and live in the West. While they steal as much as they can before the lights go out.

You call that a good job?

What's a bad job look like?

You'll excuse the Ukrainian population for opting out of accepting that hopeless suffering as their own future.

They've chosen self determination, enlightenment, progress, and participation in the modern world.

I hate that you don't get it. But they do.

The one guy near the end basically shows that Russia is toothless to perform economic or military harm to the West.

Poor Russia. Is Ukraine not playing by the rules you set? Guess you are not the superpower you pretend to be.

Rumors that 5 new units joined the fight near the Russian bulge in Donbas. Maybe rolling back a farm field at a time was to set a trap. I hope so.

Video just emerged of a Ukrainian BTR-4 in Giri. This is far outside the Ukrainian zone of control on anyone's map right now. Ukraine is still continuing to significantly expand the Russian territory they control. Yesterday, I mooted the idea that the new Ukrainian salient might be too small for them to control long-term, and it seems that Ukraine is making a big push to the east of their initial territory.

Until yesterday, Russia still controlled the easternmost areas of Sudzha. That's no longer true.

I think that if Ukraine is really going to try to hold the "city" for the long-term, they really still need to take the areas to the east of the city to create more of a buffer. That appears to be what they are trying to do.

Try not to have a heart attack, BKR, but it's up over 720 sq. km. now, as reported by Russian Telegram channels.

Huh. Something that I just learned is that you can't use a compass to navigate in the Kursk area, due to the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly.

Wikipedia

You can use GPS, of course, but that can be jammed.

I'm sure that both Russian and Ukrainian forces are well aware of this phenomenon, but I was not.

If you look at the satellite view between Sudzha and Giri, you can see a large forest belt just south of the road from Sudzha to Belitsa.

At this point, it's highly likely that Ukraine controls the forest belt and everything south of that.

Tendar has made a new, relatively speculative map based on this.

If Ukraine were able to take everything inside the dotted line, that would be a highly-defensible salient.

All of the speculation on this page based on the BTR-4 may be utter rubbish, as it now appears that the Ukrainian BYR-4
discussed above may have been previously captured by Russian forces.

If so, it was Russians driving it through Giri.

As I pointed out yesterday, the Russians are now taking very seriously the fact that the AFU in the Kursk region are here to stay. There is still complete confusion among Russians this morning about the situation in the sanitary zones of the Russian Federation. In every video posted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, they see some kind of subtext - they say they are deliberately misleading us, trying to lure more reserves from other directions.

Other channels accuse each other of alarmism. Some of the attacks are quite aggressive.

They are also confused in terms of presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in different locations as well as attacks, such as on border points.

On the AFU attack on the Krasnoyaruzhsky district

Early this morning, the AFU launched an attack on the Kolotilovka checkpoint in the Krasnoyaruzhsky district. Apparently, the AFU don't give up their plans to stretch our defensive lines, create the maximum number of tension points and attempt to break through to the east in order to cut off Belgorod from the north.

The enemy arranged a firing carousel, using several units of heavy equipment and with simultaneous attempts to advance by small assault groups. Since half past eight in the morning, Russian air force aviation has been striking at enemy positions and advancing reserves.

Against the backdrop of what is happening in the Kursk region, a strike on the neighboring area was, alas, only a matter of time - especially given the unengaged enemy reserves pulled to the Russian border area.

??Krasnoyaruzhsky district has been in the center of AFU attention for the last month. The screenshot shows the activity of both the AFU and the Russian Armed Forces over the past month.

??From the facts of attacks and shelling that we have noted, we can single out three areas on which the enemy relies, systematically conducting shelling and sorties.

??Kolotilovka checkpoint - the very place where exchanges took place and the checkpoint was operating;

??Terebreno - because of the adjacent forest area, where it is so convenient to send enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Terebreno is a rather obvious target for advancing to the east (especially taking into account that Terebreno is at the bottom, and the forest area located to the west is on a hill);

??Dronovka - the settlement is located in a small appendix extending into Sumy region, also located in the lowlands.

Despite the stabilization of the situation in Kursk region, there is still a long way to go before the crisis is resolved. We already wrote yesterday about the problems of coordination affecting the overall effectiveness of the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in the Russian border region: alas, in the conditions of an operational crisis it is not so easy to resolve this problem.

And given the nature of the AFU's actions and the anticipated strike in the other direction, the sooner the problems of coordination, fine-tuning of firing, communication and control problems are solved, the better.

The Economist: the AFU General Staff has reported the transfer of Russian troops to the Kursk region from Kharkiv and Donbas

In connection with the offensive of the AFU in the Kursk region, the Russian command began to transfer troops to this direction from Kharkiv and Donbas. This is reported by The Economist with reference to an anonymous source in the General Staff of Ukraine.

"Their commanders are not idiots. They are moving forces, but not as fast as they would like. They know that we can't stretch logistics 80 or 100 kilometers," the source said.

According to the interlocutor of the publication, the AFU sent “the most combat-ready units” to the Kursk region. According to him, the Ukrainian military managed to penetrate deep into the region up to 40 kilometers.
