The interlocutors refused to say the names of these ships, "so that the enemy would not receive valuable information about the result of his terrorist attack."
Thirdly, according to updated data, eight enemy missiles and two naval drones were fired at Sevastopol. The drones were destroyed, and only two of the missiles were shot down, so the damage from the impact is so serious. Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev has already demanded to strengthen the city's air defense.
By the way, we wrote a week ago that the shelling of Sevastopol would be intensified, the head of the city also knew about this. And he "does not understand how it was possible not to strengthen the defense of the city, despite all the warnings."
Fourthly, due to a missile strike at night, a panic began in Sevastopol. The police received information that saboteurs were operating in the city, and sent several outfits to search for them. One of them mistook an armed military patrol for saboteurs and opened fire on his own. As a result of the shootout, four people were killed - three soldiers and one policeman."

So a policeman took out 3 trained soldiers? IIRC the Russians claimed 1 solider in his underwear took out an entire Ukrainian assault team in Crimea. I guess they should consider themselves lucky they didn't run into the police.
Don't know if that was just "dumb luck" or speaks to the quality of the training the Russians have been receiving.

Russia keeps losing vessels while locked in a land war versus an adversary that doesnt have any surface ships outside of some frickoff patrol boats and im supposed to take them seriously lmao

They recently used SpaceX just a week or so ago. But note that the launch site is not in Russia for this one.

Granted not all of them are probably active buts a significant loss. Russia can't bring in new ships or remove them thanks to the treaty with Turkey

The one surface ship in one of the graving docks could be used to supply the southern front via Sea of Azov. Russia is already using Tokmak less as a supply hub

Also, Russia can't replace those vessels, because Turkey keeps the Bosphorus closed to warships during conflict.
The balance of power in the Black Sea shifted a bit last. Ukrainian shipping has a better chance of success, and the citizens of Odessa are safer in their homes.
Going by this it wasn't something they could sweep under the rug.
The ramifications of the these dry docks likely being out of action for quite some time are significant if the claims on the increasing production levels of Ukrainian maritime drones are true.

Supposedly, Ukraine has made some serious progress with autonomous drones to a point where they are going to be able to have a bunch of them patrolling and making decisions on when to strike. No humans needed. That's absolutely terrifying in terms of how it changes warfare, and society in general, moving forward.

I think Russia has to give up on the idea of Sevastopol as a major naval base going forward. In this modern era there is no way to defend it short of a complete victory for Russia. And that obviously is off the table. They should probably punt back to Socchi. But that is on the (legal) Georgia border. Tough times for Russian Black Sea fleet.
